On My Mind: Jesus Christ Needs Help From A Super Hero?

DC Comics' "Second Coming" series, which was
scheduled to make it's debut in March, and features the Lord Jesus Christ
as a failure returning to earth to take lessons on how to become the
"true messiah" from a Superman-like character called, "Sun-Man"
has since been cancelled by the company after they received
a petition with 229,000 signatures declaring the
comic as both "outrageous and blasphemous".

As the true Messiah, Jesus Christ accomplished His mission
on earth by dying on the cross for the sins of mankind.

However, the implied message behind "Second Coming" as one can
glean from the description of the comic's story line, seems to suggest
that if Jesus failed in His mission as the Messiah, then God obviously
failed in sending His beloved Son to the cross.
This is in direct conflict with the Word of God, which attests:

"Yet it was the will of the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him
to grief and made Him sick. When You and He make His life an
offering for sin and He has risen from the dead, in time to come."
Isaiah 53:10

Creator of the comic, Mark Russell, believes the controversy
and criticism of his work is not only unjustified, but he claims,
"I think the religious fundamentalists and critics who are
trying to stop Second Coming aren't interested in protecting
Christ so much as their ability to control his narrative.
Mega-churches, Fox News pundits, and YouTube
outrage merchants see Christianity as their
product and view anyone else talking about Christ
as a form of copyright infringement. That's really the
only explanation for how they can be so upset over
a comic book they haven't even read. They probably
correctly suspect that its not Christ who's being
parodied, but themselves and how they've twisted
his teachings of mercy for the powerless into a
self-serving tool for the powerful."

This blogger personally sees "Second Coming" as  just one more example
of the deceptive spirit of Antichrist at work in the world today.
The spirit of Antichrist can only operate within the realm of
those who previously have knowledge, however limited,
of the life of Jesus Christ and His mission here on earth.

In an interview with the website SyFyWire.com,  Russell claims
his strong opinions about religion were formed, "while
growing up around Christianity."  If this is true, then,
why does he hold such contempt towards believers
expressing their indignation at his blasphemous
portrayal of their beloved Lord and Savior?

Why didn't Russell choose instead to focus his ire on the impact
of apostate Christianity in our society today, and the slow, but steady
decline of the true, cross-centered, Holy Spirit-led faith, by basing
his failed messianic-like character on one (or perhaps several) of the
growing league of Scripture-twisting television and internet hucksters,
who stand guilty of deliberately  perverting the Word of God
 for personal gain and profit?

Or, since all have sinned and fall short of the honor and glory which only
God bestows and receives, Russell could have been really daring in his creativity
and cast himself in the role of a failed man in need of redeeming qualities,
instead of trying to capitalize on the sinless Son of God.

His approach in "Second Coming" sounds really no different from those within
apostate Christianity, who have made a substantial living deceiving thousands
of their greedy and gullible followers, not only with distortions of the Holy
Scriptures, but with gross misrepresentation of the very nature of God Himself.

He Is Our Sacrifice...

"But He was wounded because of our sins,
Crushed because of our iniquities. He bore the chastisement
that made us whole. And by His bruises we were healed.
We all went astray like sheep, Each going his own way;
And the Lord visited upon Him the guilt of all of us."
Isaiah 53:5-6

"All are justified and made upright and in right
standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace,
His unmerited favor and mercy through the redemption
which is provided in Christ Jesus,
Whom God put forward before the eyes of all as a
mercy seat and propitiation by His blood, the cleansing
and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation
to be received through faith.  This was to show God's
righteousness, because in His divine forbearance
He has passed over and ignored former sins
without punishment.
It was to demonstrate and prove at the present time,
in the now season, that He Himself is righteous and that
He justifies and accepts as righteous him who has
true faith in Jesus."
Romans 3:24-26

"He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree,

shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain joy
and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."
Isaiah 35:10

"For you shall go out from the spiritual exile
caused by sin and evil into the homeland  with joy,
and be led forth by the Lord Himself, and His word
with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break
forth before you into singing, and all the trees
of the field shall clap their hands.
Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree,
and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree;
and it shall be to the Lord for a name of renown,
for an everlasting sign of jubilant exaltation
and memorial to His praise which shall not be cut off."
Isaiah 55:13

"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with
a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel,
and with the blast of the trumpet of God.
And those who have departed this life
in Christ will rise first.
Then we, the living ones who remain on the earth
shall simultaneously be caught up along with the
resurrected dead in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air;
and so always through the eternity of the eternities
we shall be with the Lord!
Therefore comfort and encourage one another
with these words."
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

"God will wipe away every tear from their eyes;
and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish,
sorrow and mourning, nor grief nor pain any more,
for the old conditions and the former order of things
have passed away."
Revelation 21:4
