A Message From Pastor Jack Hibbs: Is Trump Imploding?

 It seems I am not the only one who is concerned about President Trump's
recent business trips to Qatar and Saudi Arabia.  If you have not already heard,
Qatar has sent billions of dollars to American colleges and universities, not to
mention public schools in NYC  in order to promote their campaign of
  profound hatred for the nation and people of Israel.

The Qatari government are the protectors of the leadership of Hamas, and
have been calling the shots behind the scenes in that terror group's ongoing war
 with Israel, a war which Hamas started with a vicious massacre of Israeli men,
 women, and children, along with the attendees of a Nova Festival, on October 7, 2023.

A few weeks ago, a young Jewish Christian couple about to be engaged
were shot and killed in Washington DC.  When being taken into
police custody, their murderer yelled his "support" for Palestine.

Last Sunday, people holding a rally in Colorado, in support of the Jewish
 hostages still being held by Hamas, were injured and burned by Molotov
 cocktails thrown at them by an Egyptian national, Mohamed Sabry Soliman.
He later told investigators that he was driven by a desire, "to kill all
the Zionist people."  Fifteen people and a dog were the victims
of this man's indefensible actions.

Most recently, a conference in support of Israel to be held in Texas was
cancelled due to threats of Jihadist violence.  Although the location of the
conference was later changed to a private venue,  the organizers had
  to once again cancel the event this week due to threats of violence.

 The English poet Chaucer is credited for the idiom, "He who sups with the Devil
 should have a long spoon."  I believe Trump's recent "art of the deal" with Qatar fits
this description.  If you accept an invitation to dine with the enemy of the souls of
mankind-or unscrupulous people with blood on their hands- you are playing with fire.

Jesus said, "From everyone who has been given much, much will be required;
and from him who has been entrusted with much, even more will be demanded."
(Luke 12:48)

I pray President Trump will receive Godly wisdom and spiritual discernment
in these increasingly dire times, not only in his role as the President of the
United States of America, but for his own soul as well.

Saturday Poetry Corner: The Lion and The Lamb

"But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact
 that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
(Romans 5:8)

 I saw a Tiger's golden flank,

I saw what food he ate,

By a desert spring he drank;

The Tiger's name was Hate.

Then I saw a placid Lamb

Lying fast asleep;

Like a river from its dam

Flashed the Tiger's leap.

I saw a Lion tawny-red,

Terrible and brave;

The Tiger's leap overhead

Broke like a wave.

In sand below or sun above

He faded like a flame.

The Lamb said, "I am Love;

Lion, tell your name."

The Lion's voice thundering

Shook his vaulted breast,

"I am Love. By this spring,

Brother, let us rest."

But Elijah Had Faith!

"And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail,
according to the Word of the Lord, which He spoke by Elijah."
(1 Kings 17:16)

An obscure widow woman, living in Zarephath ( now in Lebanon) was
suffering because of the effects of the drought which had now been in effect
two and a half  years. All she had between her and her son was a handful of
meal in a barrel and a little oil in a cruse.  Along came the prophet, Elijah
 and requested from this widow woman what seemed an impossible request.

She told Elijah she had no bread, only a handful of flour, and a little oil...
and that she was gathering a few sticks..."that I may go in and prepare
 for me and my son, that we may eat and die" (
1 Kings 17:12).

Can you grasp the desperate situation here?

But Elijah had faith!  Imagine the poor widow giving her last morsel of bread
to someone else! Because of her faithfulness to the prophet, the bowl of flour
was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty!

If we could only learn this truth.  We must empty ourselves so God can fill us!

Flashback Friday: I've Got A Crush On You

 In the early 1980's, American singer Linda Ronstadt, the reigning
female rock and roll diva at the time, decided to record a series of
 classic songs against the wishes of her record company and manager.
However, Linda's persistence finally won them over, and the end
 result was the sensational tribute album, "What's New".

Released in 1983, with background music by The Nelson Riddle Orchestra,
"What's New" introduced a new generation of listeners to the romantic
era of  pre-swing and swing music  (1920's-1940's) and the popular
songs recorded by American music legends Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald,
Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Peggy Lee and their contemporaries.

By the 1960's and 70's, in the wake of Beatlemania and the mass marketing of
  pop/rock albums, many classic songs from decades before had been regulated
 to Las Vegas club acts and department store "elevator music".

Linda said she felt the need to rescue these, "little jewels of artistic expression" from
 "spending the rest of their lives riding up and down on elevators."  Well put, Linda!

 Composed by George Gershwin with lyrics by Ira Gershwin, Linda's version of
"I've Got A Crush On You"  became a big hit on American Adult Contemporary
radio stations after being released as a single in 1983.

.   Fun fact: Linda previously performed this
 song on "The Muppet Show".

Wednesday's Word: Kol Bakol/ All In All

" In the presence of the words of Ephesians 1:23 one feels more like
 worshiping than trying to expound their meaning.

  Marvelous words!   They tell out the blessed masterpiece of God.

Christ the Head; the Church, chosen in Him before the foundation of the world,
 the body. The Head is in glory; the body not yet joined to the Head.
He waits in glory; the saints wait on earth.

The body needs the Head, but the Head also needs the body.  "The Christ" will
 be complete when the body is joined to the Head by the mighty power of God.
  The Church is His body, is His fullness; it makes Him complete.

  And when that is reached, when Head and body, Christ and the the Church,
are united in glory, then will the hope of His calling be realized and He will
 have the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and we shall know
 the exceeding greatness of His power toward us. "

FORGOTTEN HISTORY: The Secret War Of Sir Christopher Lee

 In this episode of FORGOTTEN HISTORY host Colin Heaton takes a
 look back at the intriguing life of English-born actor Sir Christopher Lee.

Before his legendary roles as Count Dracula, Saruman the White in the
Lord of the Rings, James Bond villain Scaramanga, and Count Dooku,
   Sith Lord and central figure in the Clone Wars of the Star Wars franchise,
Christopher Lee played a significant part in a real-life battle that was far more
 dangerous than any of the characters he later portrayed on the Big Screen.

A highly decorated war hero of World War II, Lee served in the
Royal Air Force and was quietly recruited into Britain's elite special
forces-the SOS and SOE- in which he was sent on daring missions
behind enemy lines-some of which remain classified to this day.

From hunting Nazis to inspiring Ian Fleming's famous character
James Bond,  Sir Christopher Lee not only remains one of the most
fascinating men of the 20th century, but the first successful
geriatric heavy metal music artist in world history!

Monday Meditation: Be Strong In God's Grace

"You therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus."
(2 Timothy 2:1)

After 444 days in Iranian captivity, American State Department officer
 Gary Lee returns home to Los Angeles, California in January, 1981

After a long and terrifying captivity, Iranian hostage Gary Lee was home.
It was a Sunday morning in February, 1981 and I joined with others
in his father's church to welcome him home.

Celebration filled the air as joyful voices sang, "Amazing Grace".
From my seat I noticed the bearded young man smile and shake his head
as though in wonder at the miracle of his safe return.  Months earlier,
however, he had experienced another miracle. Shortly after his capture
 he was allowed to have a Bible and one day he read Isaiah 43:5:

"Do not be afraid for I am with you; I will bring your children
from the east and gather you from the west."

"When I read those words," he told his father later, "I felt God was making
me a promise. Somehow I knew I would reach home safely. The whole
experience became a lot easier after that."

How much lighter trials become when we realize God's grace is twofold.
It is not only the happy ending. It is also the peace we can feel during
a painful journey, when we trust in God-all the way.

Saturday Poetry Corner: I Know My Faith Is Founded

"For this reason, even though I suffer as I do, I am not ashamed; for I know whom
I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have
entrusted to Him for that day."
(2 Timothy 1:12)

I know my faith is founded

On Jesus Christ, my God and Lord;

And this my faith confessing,

Unmoved I stand upon His Word.

Man's reason cannot fathom

The truth of God profound;

Who trusts her subtle wisdom

Relies on shifting ground.

God's Word is all sufficient,

It makes divinely sure,

And trusting in its wisdom,

My faith shall rest secure.

Increase my faith, dear Savior,

For Satan seeks by night and day

To rob me of this treasure

And take my hope of bliss away.

But Lord, with Thee beside me,

I shall be undismayed;

And led by Thy good Spirit,

I shall be unafraid.

Abide with me, O Savior,

A firmer faith bestow;

Then I shall bid defiance

To every evil foe.

In faith, Lord, let me serve Thee;

Though persecution, grief, and pain

Should seek to overwhelm me,

Let me a steadfast trust retain;

And then at my departure

Take Thou me home to Thee

And let me there inherit

All Thou hast promised me.

In life and death, Lord keep me

Until Thy Heav'n I gain,

Where I by Thy great mercy

The end of faith attain.

Flashback Friday: Double Shot Denver

While writing "Flashback Friday" I am often searching for just the right song,
or what could be considered the featured artist or group's "signature song".

  American singer/songwriter and 1970's music icon John Denver has
several songs which could be considered his "signature songs", including
 "Sunshine On My Shoulders" "Back Home Again" and "Country Roads".

One of my favorite Denver classics is the beautiful ballad, "Annie's Song".

Released as a single from his eighth studio album, "Annie's Song"
was written for Denver's wife at the time, Annie Martell Denver.

According to him, it was penned in about ten and a half minutes one day while
  he was riding on a ski lift to the top of Aspen Mountain in Aspen, Colorado.
John seemed to capture the feeling he felt while surrounded by the beauty
of the snow-capped mountains, "filling up his senses" all around him.
This, and the love he felt for his wife inspired him.

 "Initially it was a love song," recalled Annie Denver.  And it was given to
  me through him, and yet,  for him, it became a bit like a prayer."

"You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply..."

"Rocky Mountain High" which is one of the two state songs of Colorado, came
 under scrutiny after being released, when the FCC deemed, erroneously so, that
the phrase "...friends around the campfire and everybody's high"... promoted
the usage of drugs.  As a result, certain radio stations refused to play the song.
 John Denver publicly defended the song, claiming, "everybody's high"
was an innocent reference to the sense of peace that he
 found within the Rocky Mountains.

In 1985, Denver testified before Congress in the Parents Music Resource
Center hearing about his experience: "This was obviously done by people
who have never seen or been to the Rocky Mountains and also have never
experienced the elation, celebration of life or the joy of living that one
feels when he observes something as wondrous as the Perseids meteor
shower on a moonless, cloudless night, when there are so many stars
that you have a shadow from the starlight and you are out camping
with your friends, your best friends, and introducing them to one
of nature's most spectacular light shows for the first time."

Cash Box agreed, claiming that the song, "sparkles with sincerity
and beautiful lyrical images."

I think most people listening to this lovely song will agree!

Thank you for your beautiful music, Mr. Denver!

"In that day shall the Branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious,

"Behold the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David

and righteousness in the land.  In His day, Judah will be saved, and Israel will
dwell securely. And this is His name by which He will be called:
The LORD Our Righteousness."

that a man took and planted in his field.  Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet
it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that all the birds

(Matthew 13:31-32)

"And once more, Isaiah says: "The Root of Jesse will appear, One who will arise
to rule over the Gentiles: in Him the Gentiles will put their hope."

Memorial Day 2025: "Yesterdays"

"Gone! and they return no more,

But they leave a light in the heart;

The murmur of waves that kiss a shore

Will never, I know, depart.

Gone! yet with us still they stay,

And their memories throb through life;

The music that hushes or stirs to-day,

Is toned by their calm or strife.

Gone! and yet they never go!

We kneel at the shrine of time:

'Tis a mystery no man may know,

Nor tell in a poet's rhyme.
