Yom HaAtzmaut Israel Independence Day 5777

"Israel was God's prophetic time clock. By restoring
the people to the land, God had set the clock once
again in motion. After long centuries of silence,
it was now telling the time. If I was interpreting
the message of the hands rightly, they were
marking off the closing hours of an age in
history that had lasted something
like nineteen centuries."

Derek Prince
Brother Prince was living in Jerusalem and
witnessed the birth of the nation of Israel
on May 14, 1948.

This month marks the anniversary of the
independence of the nation of Israel.

On the fifth day of the Hebrew month of  Iyar, in
the year 5708 by the Hebrew calendar,
Israel's first Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion
declared his nation's independence.

An ancient prophecy fulfilled...

"Who has ever heard of such a thing?
Who has ever seen such things?
Can a country be born in a day
or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
Yet no sooner is Zion in labor
than she gives birth to her children."
Isaiah 66:8

Only a few years after
the horror of the Shoah, (Holocaust)
Israel emerged to take her place among
the nations as a sovereign Jewish state.

The after pains of her birth were
felt almost immediately, her very existence
threatened by surrounding hostile Arab nations
determine to wipe her off the map.

Miraculously, like young David facing off
against the giant Goliath, Israel stood firm in
the face of the Arab armies several times
her size and won the first war
of independence that same year.

In the last 69 years since Israel
was established as a nation, they have endured
a long and violent battle against their enemies
and yet, they have survived and won
every war they have ever had to fight,
confounding both foes and friends alike
with their courage and tenacity in
defending their land.

However, they were not fighting their battles alone.

Jehovah Nissi was with them.

And He is still with them today.

"Behold, He who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep."
Psalm 121:4

Happy Independence Day Israel!

"May the Lord keep your going out

and your coming in from this time
forth and forevermore."
Psalm 121:8
