In response to the recent horrific terror attack which occurred on New Year's Eve
in New Orleans, claiming the lives of fourteen people and injured dozens of others,
I submit a letter I wrote which was published in the Franklin Twp. Sentinel
newspaper in August 2012.
Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) recently stood on the Senate floor taking
to task five conservative members of the House, who, unlike him, are concerned
about the increasing influence of the Muslim Brotherhood within the halls of
power in Washington DC.
Representatives Michelle Bachman (R-Minnesota); Louie Gohmert (R-Texas);
Trent Franks (R-Arizona); Tom Rooney (R-Florida), and Lyn Westmoreland
(R-Georgia) have stood unanimous in their claim that the Muslim Brotherhood's
continuous, unchecked influence in the White House and within the higher
realms of power in the United States Government poses a serious threat
to the freedom and security of the American people.
McCain and the rest of his sycophantic ilk that enjoy pandering to the likes
of the Muslim Brotherhood are in for a very rude awakening. They fail to see
that bad history, left uncorrected by the passages of time, tends to repeat itself.
In 1810, Olivier de Coraricez, a former member of Napoleon Bonaparte's
Commission of Sciences, first encountered the forerunners of the Muslim
Brotherhood while visiting the Middle East.
In his book, "The History Of The Wahhabis" de Coraricez wrote:
"These Arabs appear destined to play a great role in history."
Apparently, de Coraricez's prediction was right on target.
The Wahhabite Movement is the most orthodox sect of Islam. It's origins
can be traced to the 18th century, when founder Mohammad Abd el-Wahab,
after completing his religious training and legal studies in Baghdad, returned
to Arabia to preach Muslim puritanism and insisted that the Qur'an was the
only source of divine authority. His preaching discouraged, among other
things, the adoration of Muslim saints and the decoration of their tombs
during pilgrimages to Medina and Mecca.
In the early 20th century, the sect was revitalized by the future first king
of Saudi Arabia Ibn Saud, who, in order to consolidate his power throughout
central Arabia, sent Wahhabite missionaries to towns and villages under
his domain to set up agrarian communities.
The Wahhabite Movement eventually branched out from Arabia into other
parts of the Middle East. In 1945, a revolutionary movement erupted in Egypt,
led by members of the Muslim Brotherhood. This particular branch of the
organization had been founded in 1928 by a man named Hassan Banna,
the son of an Egyptian watchmaker and Islamic cleric and writer.
Banna, who was well grounded in the orthodox Muslim theology of his
father, was distressed by what he considered the evil effects of western culture
and modern ways upon Muslims. Considered neither a Fascist or a Communist,
he was solely driven by unabashed religious zeal and a quest for power.
The Muslim Brotherhood developed an enormous appeal with the overwhelmingly
poor and discontented post WWII Egyptian population. In 1945, a member of
the Muslim Brotherhood, Abdul Munim Abdul Raud, attempted to kill
Egypt's second president Gamal Abdul Nasser.
The Brotherhood opposed Nasser's increasing alliance with the Soviet Union.
The organization was outlawed and thousands of its members were imprisoned
in Egyptian jails. Meanwhile, exiled member of the Muslim Brotherhood
actively sought converts from nations in North Africa and the Middle East.
The Brotherhood's greatest single triumph, at least in their eyes, and the one
that they are most remember for, was the assassination of Egyptian President
Anwar Sadat in 1981. Now the organization has once again made history with
the recent election of Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammad Morsi in Egypt.*
While western political elites are clearly ignoring the danger signs while
seeking to forge diplomatic relations with the new Egyptian government,
these radical Islamists will continue to wage war against everyone, not
only Christians and Jews, but also fellow Muslims who reject their call
for violence towards non-believers and stand in opposition to the
brutal, freedom-crushing dictates of Sharia Law.
It is the ultimate goal of the Muslim Brotherhood and groups like them
to succeed in the future establishment of an Islamic Caliphate, presided over
by the yet to be revealed 12th Imam, or Mahdi, who will direct the armies
of the Sons of Allah to victory over the infidel West and the rest of the world.
Furthermore, how can McCain, who once said, "Radical, violent Islam is evil
and I will defeat it!" ignore the increasing threat to Israel, a loyal friend and ally
of America by the Muslim Brotherhood's rise to power in Egypt? While McCain
berates Michelle Bachmann and other members of Congress for their genuine
concerns about the Muslim Brotherhood in America, the crowds in the
streets of Cairo are screaming, "Tomorrow Morsi will liberate Gaza!"
I also have to ask myself why someone like John McCain, who was held in
the Hanoi Hilton and tortured by America's enemies, is so willing to bend to
another set of foes who are committed, through the dictates of their austere
religious beliefs, to maim, mutilate, and murder millions of people
around the world, including his fellow Americans.
His acquiescence to the Muslim Brotherhood makes him no better than
Senator John Kerry, who betrayed his fellow soldiers with his tattle-
telling before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee while this
nation was still involved in the conflict in Southeast Asia.
The Viet Cong would play the tape recording made of John Kerry's voice
betraying his comrades while they tortured our POW's. Kerry also threw
his (war) medals away. May be John McCain ought to do the same thing.
* Fifteen of the nineteen hijackers on September 11, 2001 were Wahhabites.
