This past week (Sunday, January 19th to be exact) one of the grand dames
of country music, the legendary Dolly Parton turned 79 years young!
Over her long and successful career in the world of entertainment,
dainty Miss Dolly has proven herself to be a talented and funny actress
as well as a gifted singer and songwriter. I always loved her portrayal
as the sweet and sassy secretary Doralee Rhoades in the hilarious
1980 American comedy film, "9 To 5".
Early on in the movie, we learn that the office ostracism Doralee is experiencing
from her co-workers is due to her sleazy boss, Franklin Hart, (Dabney Coleman)
" a sexiest, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot" who has spread a rumor
through the company that she and him are having an affair.
But Doralee knew how to deal with it!
To A Hen In One Shot!"
(1980)
nomination for Best Original Song at the 53rd Academy Awards and three
Grammy Award nominations including Song of the Year at the 24th Annual
Grammy Awards. Dolly's anthem to the American office worker won her
awards for Best Country Song and and Best Country Vocal Performance.
She also received an additional Best Album of Original Score
Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special Award.
100 Years...100 Songs.
