Flashback Friday: Kyrie

"Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel,
Kyrie eleison through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison where I'm going, will you follow?
Kyrie eleison on a highway in the night..."

"Kyrie eleison... Kyrie eleison... Kyrie eleison..."

An ancient Greek prayer which translated means,
"Lord have mercy" was the Number One song in America this
second week of March, 1986 hitting the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

I dedicate this song to our brave American troops fighting the war
in the Middle East, and to the memory of the 13 servicemen
who recently lost their lives in this ongoing conflict.
May they rest in eternal peace.

America At 250: K9 Veterans Day/ Honoring Our Four-Legged Heroes

Although throughout world history there have been loyal "dogs of war" assisting in the
heat of battle, it was not until World War II when the U.S. military implemented our
nation's first canine units.  Founded by a civilian organization called Dogs for Defense
this government-run program was officially created on March 13, 1942.

Unofficially called the K-9 Corps, the War Dog Program trained about 11,000 dogs at
a center in Front Royal, Virginia.  Dog handlers within the Army Quartermaster Corps
oversaw the program which benefited soldiers on the battlefield.  Members of the
canine units, among other duties, helped with sentry duty, scouting missions, and
delivering messages. According to the website Soldiers' Angels: "But perhaps their
greatest contribution is the bond they shared with their handlers, a level of
trust and partnership forged in the most intense environment."

The Watchman With Erick Stakelbeck: Tommy Robinson Warns America: Islam’s UK Takeover Only The Beginning

"Who will rise up for me against the wicked?  Who will stand for me against
the workers of iniquity?  Unless the LORD had been my helper,
I would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence."
(Psalm 94:16)

Host Erick Stakelbeck welcomes guest British activist Tommy Robinson who
exposes how Great Britain has been conquered by Islamic extremism while
authorities have stayed silent. Robinson warns that America faces the same
coordinated takeover and explains why speaking the truth costs everything today.

"And The Land Was Polluted With Blood..."

Out of the depths I cry to You, O LORD!   O LORD, hear my voice;
let Your ears be attentive to my plea for mercy."
(Psalm 130:1-2)

"And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. Yea, they
sacrificed their sons and daughters unto devils, and shed innocent blood,
even the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed unto
idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. Thus, they were
defiled with their own works and went a-whoring with their own inventions."
(Psalm 106:36-39)

According to a recent email from Marie Tasy, Executive Director of NJ Right To Life,
New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill has allotted $52 million dollars for family planning
and "reproductive health access" a.k.a. abortion services.  This includes access to
controversial abortion pills being sold through the mail or over the counter
in pharmacies across the state.

Like her predecessor Phil Murphy, newly- elected Governor Sherrill is known
as a "reproductive health champion" and for her loyalty to the Democratic
Party's extreme abortion platform.  Apparently she  sees nothing wrong in
sticking it to the already overburdened New Jersey tax payers, making them foot
the bill for government-instituted free abortions and abortion-related services,
regardless of the patient's ability to pay.

According to Mrs. Tasy, at the same time, our state is facing a $3 billion dollar deficit,
caused by rising Medicaid costs, pension obligations, and out-of-control spending.
Residents are already saddled with sky high property taxes and record high living costs.
I wonder if this is the reason why I am seeing more and more houses up for sale.

"Thus, they were defiled with their own works..."

Over the last eight years, Planned Parenthood has taken more than $268 million
in New Jersey taxpayer dollars.  Now, this organization and others like them,
are calling the shots in Trenton, dictating public policy, crafting legislation,
and benefiting... polluting the land with blood.

"Instead of focusing on education, infrastructure, and fiscal responsibility,
writes Mrs. Tasy, Governor Sherrill is prioritizing funding abortion providers."

Yet, could the record 59,830 abortions performed last year in our state have
been avoided, if the women involved had been given an alternative choice?

One that not only involved compassionate and non-judgmental counseling
services (which would also include the father of the child), excellent health
care for both the mother and the child, but more importantly, access to
the latest in ultrasound technology, where, unless they are legally blind,
the mother and father can see their baby's heartbeat on the screen.

With all the recent allegations and horror stories emerging from the
investigation centering around convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein,
there is an overwhelming need for responsible and moral leadership
in government today, men and women who not only realize that they
stand accountable to God and the people they serve in their role as public
servants, but will make the protection of the most vulnerable members
of society, our precious children, one of their top priorities.

Especially those being targeted in the womb.

The Lord reminds us in Luke 12:7, "Indeed, even the very hairs
of your head are all numbered."

He will not forget the number of unborn children in America
murdered through abortion.

"Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against His people,
insomuch that He abhorred His own inheritance. And He gave them
into the hands of the heathen; and they that hated them, and they
were brought into subjection under their hand."
(Psalm 106:40-42)

Whenever Israel rebelled and stood in defiance to God,  He
withdrew from the land and with Him went His providence and
protection.  He abhorred "His own inheritance" and allowed them,
through their own free will, to choose spiritual bondage in service
to other gods, the gods they chose for themselves, ending in
disastrous consequences for the nation.

America has reached her 250th year.  How much longer will God allow the land
called, "One Nation Under God" to indulge in this most heinous national sin?

Perhaps we should consider changing the words of the Pledge of Allegiance,
from "and justice for all" to "and justice for some"?

Wednesday's Word: Ben-Avraham "Son Of Abraham"

"And the LORD took him outside and said, "Now look to the heavens and count the stars,
if you are able."  Then he told him, "So shall your offspring be."  And Abraham believed
the LORD and it was credited to him as righteousness."
(Genesis 15:5-6)

"The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and foretold
the gospel to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you."
(Galatians 3:8)

"The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his Seed. The Scripture does not say,
"and to seeds" meaning many, but "and to your Seed, meaning one, who is Christ."
(Galatians 3:16)

"There is neither Jew nor Greek (Gentile) slave nor free, male nor female,
for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
(Galatians 3:28)

"...for ye are all one in Christ Jesus; being alike, chosen in Him, united to Him,
redeemed by His blood, justified by His righteousness, regenerated by His Spirit,
the children of God by faith in Him, and heirs of the same grace and glory, they
make Jews and Gentiles, bond and free, male and female, as if were but one
new man in Him, one body, of which He is the head, one spiritual seed
of Abraham and of Christ."
-Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible

In summary, the term, "Son of Abraham" encapsulates a rich tapestry of faith,
promise, and divine purpose, bringing the Old and New Testaments and uniting
believers across generations in the shared heritage of faith in the one true God.

Monday Meditation For Women's History Month: Chosen Ladies

"For thy Maker is thy husband; the Lord of hosts is His name and thy Redeemer
the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth He shall be called. For the
Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife
of youth, when thou was refused, saith thy God. For a small moment have
I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath
I hid My face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness
will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer."
(Isaiah 54:5-8)

" I was overjoyed to find some of your children walking in truth, just as
the Father has commanded us. And now I urge you, dear lady, not as a new
commandment to you, but one we have had from the beginning-that we love
one another. And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is
the very commandment you have heard from the beginning, that you must walk in love."
(2 John 4-6)

Who was this "chosen lady" who merited a letter from the apostle John?
Where was she from? What was her role in the ministry?
How did she come to faith in Christ?

How often we wish the Bible offered more details about individuals and events,
and in this letter we are left to wonder about an unnamed, unidentified woman
and her "chosen sister". Scholars have speculated that these two women were leaders
of house churches and that the children mentioned were their spiritual children. As such,
they may have had an important role in the foundational growth of the early church.

In one sense, it is their lack of identity that allows them to represent the countless
"chosen ladies" from around the world who have faithfully served the Lord through
the centuries-women whose names have been lost in the annals of history.

I often wonder where I would be today were it not for two "chosen ladies".

Miss Salthammer and Miss Cowan moved to my rural community in
northern Wisconsin several years before I was born, and out of their
sacrificial church-planting ministry came the Green Grove Alliance Church.

When I was growing up in that little country church, the two women had long
since packed their bags and moved on to plant other churches. I know of them
through prayer requests offered on their behalf and through their occasional
return visits to teach vacation Bible school.

As kids, we sometimes laughed at the way they dressed, and we told jokes
about how they were paid with a load of potatoes or turnips instead of money.
I later learned that when Miss Cowan died she was buried in a pauper's grave.

They were ordinary women whose span of years has ended and whose names
will soon be forgotten. But their ministry lives on through the generations
of their spiritual children.  They were chosen ladies.

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives
I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
(John 14:27)

Wars, riots, domestic violence, international conflicts-its clear that
the world is not at peace.  In this classic teaching, Dr. Charles Stanley
speaks of Jesus Christ as the Prince of Peace and explains how we can
find inner contentment and true rest through a personal relationship
with Him. Don't let things like anger, lust, or bitterness steal your peace.

Learn how to trust God and let Him calm your soul with his soothing presence.

Columbus' Eclipse

"As you know, we never use words of flattery or any pretext for greed.  God is our witness!"
(1 Thessalonians 2:5)

Columbus Predicts Lunar Eclipse
(1504 Engraving)

On one of Christopher Columbus' voyages, he found that his crew's
food supply was almost depleted. Anchored off the island of Jamaica,
he was grateful to be given food by the islanders. But as time went on,
the gifts of food decreased so that the crew began to starve.

Columbus knew from an astronomy book that a lunar eclipse would
soon occur. He called the native chiefs together and told them that God
was angry about their selfishness and would blot out the moon.

At first, the islanders scoffed. But when they watched the night's silver
disc slowly become dark, they became terrified and quickly brought food.

Columbus said that if he prayed, the moon would be restored.

Though we may empathize with his circumstances, Columbus'
"message from God" was dishonest and self-serving.

Aware of religious charlatans who peddled God's Word for their
own desires, the apostle Paul wrote, "We are not, as so many,
peddling the Word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God,
we speak in the sight of God."
(2 Corinthians 2:17)

At all times we must be on guard not to misrepresent God's message
to acquire what we want from others. With a heart yielded to God, we
must honestly share spiritual truths that benefit those who hear.

Thursday's Thoughts: How Much Are Your Words Worth?

"A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit."
(Proverbs 15:4)

"Sometimes we are a great trial to our friends and put an entirely
uncalled-for strain upon our friendships by asking foolish questions.
The Man of the Place and I discovered the other day that we had
for some time been saying to our friends:
"Why don't you come over?"

Can you think of a more awkward question than that? Just imagine the result
if that question should always be answered truthfully. Some would reply,
"Because I do not care to visit you."  Others might say, "Because it is too
much trouble" while still others, who might care to come, would be swamped
in trying to enumerate the many reasons why they had not done so.

We decided that we would break ourselves of such a bad habit.

I once had a neighbor who, whenever we met, invariably asked me why
I had not been to visit her. Even when I did go she met me with the query,
"Why haven't you been over before?"  It was not a very pleasant greeting,
and naturally one shuns unpleasantness when one may.

I have another neighbor who will call me on the phone and say: "It's
been a long time since we have seen you and we do want a good visit.
Can't you come over tomorrow?"  And immediately I wish I could go.

It does make such a difference how things are said.

Friendship is like love.  It cannot be demanded or driven or insisted upon.
It must be wooed to be won. The habit of saying disagreeable things or
being careless about how what we say affects others grows on us
so easily and so surely if we indulge it.

"Mrs. Brown gave me an unhappy half hour a few days ago," said Mrs. Gray to me.
"She said a great many unpleasant things and was generally disagreeable, but
it is all right. The poor thing is getting childish, and we must overlook her oddities."

Mrs. Gray is a comparative newcomer in the neighborhood, but I have known
Mrs. Brown for years; and ever since I have known her, she has prided herself
on her plain speaking, showing very little regard for others' feelings.

Her unkindness appears to me not a reversion to the mentality of childhood
but simply an advance in the way she was going years ago.  Her tongue has
only become sharper with use, and her dexterity in hurting the feelings
of others has grown with practice.

I know of another woman of the same age whom no one speaks of as
being childish. It is not necessary to make such an excuse for her because
she is still, as she has been for twenty years, helpful and sweet and kind.
And this helpfulness and sweetness and kindness of hers has grown with
the passing years. I think no one will ever say of her, "poor old thing,
she is childish" as an excuse for her being disagreeable. I know
she would hope to die before that time should come.

People do grow childish in extreme old age, of course, and should be
treated with tenderness because if it; but I believe that even then the
character which they have built during the years before will manifest
itself. There is a great difference in children, you know, and I have
come to the conclusion that if we live to reach a second childhood,
we shall not be bad-tempered, disagreeable children
unless we have indulged those traits.

Then there are people who are "peculiar". Ever meet any of them?

The word seems to be less used than formerly, but I think there was a time
when it was very common, and I longed to shriek every time I heard it.

"Oh! You must not do that; George will be angry. He's so peculiar!"

"Of course she doesn't belong with the rest of the crowd, but I had
to invite her. She is so peculiar, you know, and so easily offended."

"I wouldn't pay any attention to that. Of course, she did treat
you abominably, but it is just her way. She is so peculiar."

And so on and so on.  I thought seriously of cultivating a reputation
for being peculiar, for like charity, such a reputation seemed to cover
multitudes of sins; but I decided that it would be even more unpleasant
for me than for the other fellow; that it would not pay to make myself an
unlovely character for the sake of any little, mean advantages to be gained by it."
