O Come, O Come Emmanuel

"For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given;
and the government shall be upon His shoulder,
and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father of Eternity,
Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of His government
and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne
of David and over his kingdom, to establish it, and
to uphold it with justice and with righteousness,
from the latter time forth, even forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this."
Isaiah 9:6-7

The Prophet Isaiah wrote of the coming Messiah seven
hundred years before His birth.

O come, O come, Emmanuel,

And ransom captive Israel,

That mourns in lonely exile here

Until the Son of God appear.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel!

O come, Thou Dayspring, come and cheer,

Our spirits by Thine advent here,

Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,

And death's dark shadows put to flight.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel!

O come, Thou Key of David come,

And open wide our heavenly home;

Make safe the way that leads on high,

And close the path to misery.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel!
