According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration,
or NOAA, a massive cloud of dust is heading from the shores of Africa
with the smallest particles reaching the southern Florida peninsula
in the middle of the week. As you can see in the map below,
the dust cloud will also affect parts of the Caribbean
and Mexico, and will push as far north as the Gulf
states of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.
Since this Saharan dust storm and the Atlantic hurricane season are
coinciding with each other, this could mean a decrease in the development
of tropical cyclones which need moist air and calm winds to grow,
two elements sorely lacking in the dry plumes of Saharan dust.
However, while people in the affected areas might see
some spectacular sunrises and sunsets, NOAA further
warns of the potential for hazy skies and poor air quality,
not to mention a phenomenon called "blood rains"
or red-colored rain where the thickest dust is hovering,
as well as toxic "red tides" due to the Saharan dust
triggering harmful algal blooms as it passes over the ocean.
This algae can kill fish and cause respiratory problems in humans.
Please pray for the people in the path of this noxious dust cloud.
"Who has measure the waters in the hollow of His hand, or marked
off the heavens with the span of His hand? Who has held the
dust of the earth in a basket or weighed the mountains
on a scale and the hills with a balance?"
(Isaiah 40:12)
I pray that the One whom the winds and the seas obey, and who
holds the dust of the earth in a basket will speak and this toxic cloud
of dust will vanish into thin air! Please dear Lord, keep the people
in the path of this cloud and the land and seas safe in Your love and mercy.
In the matchless and mighty name of the King of kings and
Lord of lords, the Lion of the tribe of Judah
Yeshua Ha'Maschiach I pray!
Amen and Amen!
Maranatha!
