Just in time for Father's Day weekend, the National Hurricane Center
is watching a broad area of low pressure over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico
which is producing widespread but disorganized cloudiness,
showers, and thunderstorms.
I guess the Saharan dust storm is not that effective
in preventing tropical systems from forming after all!
If this tropical system becomes a full-fledged storm,
her name will be Claudette.
This system is expected to move northward and a tropical or
subtropical depression is likely to form over the west-central Gulf of Mexico
tonight or by early Friday morning, bringing heavy rains to areas of the
U.S. Gulf Coast and further inland as the storm progresses northeast.
Citizens living along the Gulf-especially people along the Texas
and Louisiana coastlines where Claudette might possibly
make landfall- please stay alert and listen to your state
and local officials in regards to evacuation plans
should major flooding occur with this storm.
Stay safe and God bless everyone!
