On My Mind: Election Integrity

"Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it;
except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.
(Psalm 127:1)

I recently read an article in one of our free local newspapers concerning
the importance of voting and how this upcoming election will determine
the future of our nation and the lives of our children and grandchildren.

While the outcome of every election is crucial regarding the life
and liberty of Americans in future generations,  how can we truly
expect the outcome of an election to be fair when personal
integrity is no longer a requirement for those in political office?

The over usage of the word, "integrity" is common these days,
especially in regards to voting and elections in America. In the
case of an individual, it is the quality of being honest and having
a personal commitment to strong moral principles.  In other
words, the individual elected to public service has to realize
that they stand accountable before Almighty God for their
words and actions as a servant to the people of their district.

In regards to a nation, the word integrity means a
whole and undivided society.  Unfortunately, America
is more divided than ever before in these uncertain days.

America was founded on the Judeo-Christian
principles found within the Holy Bible.

Although there was some opposition to paying homage
to the Creator of the Universe during the drafting of the
United States Constitution, our founding fathers realized that
unless the fledging nation was established upon the precepts
of Almighty God, "they labor in vain who build it."

An elderly Benjamin Franklin, in a prayer before the
Constitutional  Congress of 1787, said it best:  "I have lived, Sir,
a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I
see of this truth...that God governs the affairs of men. And if
a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it
probable that an empire can rise without His aid?"

Unfortunately, Mr. Franklin's humble speech would fall
on deaf ears within the government today, on both sides
of the political aisle.   Many in public service today stand
defiant in the eyes of God, shutting Him completely out
of their decision-making in the government.

"In those days there was no king in Israel; every man
did what was right in his own eyes."
(Judges 17:6)

While non-Christian chaplains have been invited to invoke prayers
to their deities within the U.S. Senate, there is an undisguised hostility
towards pastors representing Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible.

Apart from Christ, there is no true righteousness.

This brings us back to the subject of election integrity.  How can
there be honest and fair elections in America with the glaring
absence of righteous leadership in the high places of power?

How can we expect positive change in communities
across America when the once noble qualities of being
responsible and accountable for one's actions are mocked,
or simply ignored by many individuals in positions of
authority over us, not to mention within the sordid
propaganda mills of the entity calling itself
the American mainstream media?

I  regard the right to vote in an election as a sacred
privilege, bestowed on me and all patriotic Americans
by those who fought to preserve our precious freedom.

However, at this critical time in our nation's history,
America has come to a standstill at the proverbial crossroads.

Only the intervention of Almighty God can save us now.

So please vote, but more importantly, pray for righteous leadership!

America, may Almighty God continue to shed His grace on thee!
