Thursday's Thoughts: He Giveth More Grace

"For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows present
grace and favor and future glory-honor, splendor, and heavenly bliss!
No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly."
(Psalm 84:11)

He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,

He sendeth more strength as our labors increase;

To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,

To multiplied trials His multiplied peace.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,

When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,

When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,

Our Father's full giving is only begun.

His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,

His power no boundary known unto men;

For out of His infinite riches in Jesus

He giveth and giveth and giveth again.

"He Giveth More Grace"
Annie Johnson Flint
(1866-1932)
American Christian hymn writer and poetess

Annie Johnson Flint was born on Christmas Eve 1866 near Vineland, New Jersey.
After losing both of her parents in early childhood, she was adopted by the Flint family.
After completing high school, she spent one year at a training school for teachers.
During her second year of teaching a primary class, Annie began to experience
symptoms of arthritis which severely restricted her ability to walk and
from which she would never recover.

Annie loved to write poetry and now that she could no longer teach, she
began to compose the beautiful  and inspirational religious poems she is
 so well known for- often while resting against pillows in her bed- to
 help ease the crippling pain she experienced on a daily basis.

"He Giveth More Grace"  is one of her most famous and beloved poems.

When she passed away in September, 1932  her obituary, which
 was published in the New York Times called Annie Johnson Flint
"The Poet of Helpfulness".
