America At 250: Benjamin Franklin's Prayer

By the summer of 1787, the Constitutional Convention was on the verge of collapse.
Delegates were locked in a stalemate, pulled apart by self-interests, competing
state loyalties, and political gamesmanship.

It was in this moment of crisis, elder statesman Benjamin Franklin rose and made
an appeal not to politics, but to God's providence, urging his fellow delegates to set
aside their differences and seek the guidance of the Creator.
