On My Mind: Will Roe vs. Wade Be Overturned?

"Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and the righteous
slay thou not; for I will not justify nor acquit the wicked."
(Exodus 23:7)

If there is a single issue which could possibly trigger another Civil War
in America today it is abortion.  Already forces on both sides are gathering,
some with hopeful prayers and peaceful protests, and others threatening
violence, and even blood shed if necessary, to keep the heinous act
of infanticide protected under federal law

Now that the Supreme Court draft opinion has been "leaked" to the outside
world, Justice Samuel Alito, according to a news report I read today, has
apparently cancelled all his public appearance and he and his family have
gone into seclusion for their personal safety.

Meanwhile, another news story reported that Chief Justice John Roberts is
allegedly trying to persuade fellow Justices Clarence Thomas, Amy Coney-Barrett,
and Brett Kavanaugh to change their minds about overturning Roe vs. Wade.
However, since the original argument was based on fraud,
I strongly feel that it should be overturned by the Supreme Court.

In 1973, Norma "Jane Roe" McCorvey was a deeply conflicted, pregnant
single mother who, with the help of two crafty women lawyers, claimed that she
was denied an abortion under Texas state law at the time.  However, even before
the court's landmark decision was handed down, McCorvey gave birth to her
child, a daughter whom she gave up for adoption.

When Roe vs. Wade became the law of the land, legalizing abortion in all
fifty states,  "Jane Roe" was no longer pregnant!

Although I believe that abortion is a great evil, and should be outlawed in every
state in the union, I think this issue needs to be returned to the individual states
to be decided on by the citizens who live and vote there.

Furthermore, Americans should not have to be subjugated into violating their
religious convictions or their consciences by increasingly lawless, federal
government overreach, forcing them to pay for abortion through their taxes.

Monday Meditation: Praise Beyond Words

PRAISE ye the LORD.

Praise God in His sanctuary;

praise Him in the firmament of His power.

Praise Him for His mighty acts:

praise Him according to His excellent greatness.

Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet:

praise Him with the psaltery and harp.

Praise Him with the timbrel and dance:

praise Him with stringed instruments and organs.

Praise Him upon the loud cymbals;

praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals.

Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord.

PRAISE ye the LORD.

Ere I Forget All The Joy That Is Mine Today

"This is the day that the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
(Psalm 118:24)

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink,
or about your body or what you will wear.  Is not life more than food,
and the body more than clothes?"
(Matthew 6:25)

Today while the blossoms still cling to the vine

I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine

A million tomorrows shall all pass away

Ere I forget all the joy that is mine today.

I'll be a dandy and I'll be a rover

You'll know who I am by the song that I sing

I'll feast at your table, I'll sleep in your clover

Who cares what the morrow shall bring?

Today while the blossoms still cling to the vine

I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine

A million tomorrows shall all pass away

Ere I forget all the joy that is mine today.

I can't be contented with yesterday's glory

I can't live on promises winter to spring

Today is my moment and now is my story

I'll laugh and I'll cry and I'll sing.

Today while the blossoms still cling to the vine

I'll taste your strawberries, I'll drink your sweet wine

A million tomorrows shall all pass away

Ere I forget all the joy that is mine today.

But the one who does the will of God abides forever."

We are living in a very impermanent and changeable world.

Nothing that we see is going to last permanently.

The ambitions, the desires, the passions of people of this world who are
immersed in time and things of the flesh are all going to pass away.
There are forces at work in the world-spiritual and material forces
much more powerful than we are, forces that we cannot control.

We are just like a little speck on the surface of a river being carried along.

Is there any way to find permanence?  Is there any way to find security?
Yes, it's simple.  Those words contain the answer:

"But the one who does the will of God abides forever." (1 John 2:17)

In the last resort, God's will is going to stand.  When everything else collapses
and falls away and becomes impermanent and insecure, disappoints us, and maybe
even deceives us, there's one thing that's going to stand secure, that's God's will.

God is in control; He's supreme.  And if you unite yourself with the will of God,
if you make it your purpose in life to do the will of God, then you are just as strong
and just as permanent and just as secure as God's will.

Circumstances will change, the world will change, but the will of God stands firm,
enduring and unconquerable and you can be just like the will of God
if you set your mind to do it.

From Cross To The Crown

"Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer; behold the devil shall cast
some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation
ten days; be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life."
(Revelation 2:10)

Be strong and courageous

Whate'er may befall,

We know our Redeemer

Will answer our call;

Tho' sorrow and trials

Are weighing us down,

Yet hope looks away

From the cross to the crown.

From the cross to the crown

Let us follow our Lord,

From the cross to the crown

Let us cling to His Word;

Tho' sorrow and trials

Are weighing us down,

Yet faith leads us on

From the cross to the crown!

His cup of affliction

Was filled to the brim,

And are we not willing

To suffer for Him?

The robe of His glory

For us He laid down,

To show us the path

From the cross to the crown.

From the cross to the crown

Let us follow our Lord,

From the cross to the crown

Let us cling to His Word;

Tho' sorrow and trials

Are weighing us down,

Yet faith leads us on

From the cross to the crown!

This life is a conflict,

A battle with sin,

Yet trusting in Jesus

Thro' grace we shall win.

The world may oppose us,

The tempter may frown,

Yet faith leadeth on

From the cross to the crown.

From the cross to the crown

Let us follow our Lord,

From the cross to the crown

Let us cling to His Word;

Tho' sorrow and trials

Are weighing us down,

Yet faith leads us on

From the cross to the crown!

Tho' friends that are dearest

Have gone from our sight,

'Tis only to enter

The mansions of light;

Their warfare is over,

Their burdens laid down,

How short was their path

From the cross to the crown!

From the cross to the crown

Let us follow our Lord,

From the cross to the crown

Let us cling to His Word;

Tho' sorrow and trials

Are weighing us down,

Yet faith leads us on

From the cross to the crown!
