On My Mind: Nativity Scene Banned In Delaware But Muslim Police In NYC Okay?

For almost ninety years, the seaside town of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
has placed a nativity scene on the town circle at Christmas.
  But not this year.

Saint Edmond Church of Rehoboth Beach recently tried to renew the local
tradition of displaying a nativity scene and asked the city for permission.
Believing that they had permission, the church, supported by
the Star of the Sea Knights of Columbus Council 7297  Rehoboth
Beach, put up the nativity on the town circle.

The nativity was just one of the many holiday displays placed
at this site every year.  These include a Christmas tree, holiday lights,
and other lighted displays as well as a large Santa Claus house on the Boardwalk,
all erected and owned by the local Chamber of Commerce.

However, only one day after the nativity display went up, the city
called and ordered it removed, the excuse being that,  "a religious
display could not be placed on public property."

Many of the residents of Rehoboth Beach were dismayed by the
city's decision to take down the nativity scene.  However, in a recent
television interview, Mayor Paul Kuhns said, "City policy is not to
have religious displays on public property or city property."

However, according to the First Liberty Institute, a religious rights
law firm, the city of Rehoboth Beach is in violation of a long-standing
US Supreme Court opinion which states the even government-sponsored nativity
displays are indeed lawful in a holiday display, when accompanied by
secular and religious components.

Working on behalf of the local Knights of Columbus organization,
First Liberty sent a letter to the city urging officials to change their
minds on banning the nativity display, in accordance with the
Supreme Court ruling.  In the letter, the law firm stated that
the city's prohibiting of the nativity scene, while allowing
secular Christmas displays by another local organization is
"textbook viewpoint discrimination."

To me this is just more evidence that the enemies of
Christ are determine to remove His name and likeness from
the public square in America, even if they have to violate the
First Amendment rights of individuals to do so.

Meanwhile, while they're banning nativity scenes in Delaware,
a little over a hundred miles to the north, New York City has now
established Muslim Community Patrol cars in the Big Apple.

7 Things To Know About Muslim Community Patrol Cars

Wait a minute here.   Is not Sharia Law the religious law of Islam?
Whatever happened to "separation of church and state", something
progressives are always howling about when it comes to things
like Christians wanting to display nativity scenes at Christmas.
Shouldn't this 'separation'  so pontificated upon by liberals
extend to "Muslim Community Patrol" cars as well?

This is the United States of America.  We have our own legal system,
our own courts, our own Constitution and Declaration of Independence.
We also have a First Amendment that declares:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,
or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

New York City officials are in serious violation of the US Constitution
as they have sought to establish a religion, Islam, as an integral
part of their urban justice system.  Unfortunately, this is the
same thing which has happened in European nations
like France and England.

My indignation here is not so much towards the Muslims.
They are only taking advantage of what they have been
permitted to take advantage of in this situation.

My real anger is towards those Americans of a certain age
who seem to suffer from significant memory loss about an
event which shook this nation to it's core nearly 20 years ago
on the morning of September 11, 2001.  On that horrible
day, few people had trouble finding a church to kneel down
in and pray and ask Almighty God for His protection, and for
deliverance from the evil which had deeply wounded our nation.

It seems too that those primarily on the political Left are determine
to obliterate America's Judeo-Christian heritage, by willingly forsaking
the guidance and infallible wisdom of Almighty God for the same selfish
reasons, not to mention for political gain, such as this truly sad cancelling
of years of holiday tradition, with the removal of a harmless nativity
scene from a public square, while instigating and encouraging
the implementation of  Islamic Sharia Law- in the very same
city once considered, "Ground Zero" by America's enemies.
