A peaceful evening suddenly interrupted by a violent thunderstorm is
the subject of the animation short, "The Old Mill" which was produced
by Walt Disney as part of his "Silly Symphony" series of cartoons,
and released by RKO Pictures in 1937.
A community of animals living inside an abandoned windmill
are caught off guard by the storm, but manage to survive
after it nearly destroys their home.
With background music from the operetta, "The Gypsy Baron"
by Johann Strauss II, this classic film won the 1937 Oscar
for Best Short Subjects: Cartoons.
In 2015, the US Library Of Congress selected, "The Old Mill"
for preservation in the National Film Registry, finding it,
"culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant."
