According to meteorologist and science writer Scott Sutherland of
The Weather Network, night sky gazers are in for an added delight
with the rising of this evening's Full Beaver Moon.
Not only will this be the final Super Moon of 2024, but accompanying
lovely Luna in the sky tonight will be "flashes" of shooting stars
from the Taurid Meteor Shower.
The moon will rise beginning at 4:21 pm here on the East Coast
of the United States, which at this time of the year is right before
it starts to get dark outside. The moon will be fully visible as it
rises above the southeastern horizon as the sun sets in the West.
This moon is called, the "Beaver Moon" because it is at this time of the
year when beavers begin to hibernate inside their lodges after spending
time gathering up sufficient food storage for the long winter months ahead,
according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. In the frontier days of the fur trade,
beavers were hunted at this time for their thick, warm pelts.
I am sure these furry little critters are as thankful
as I am that those days have long since gone!
🌕I hope the skies are clear where you're at tonight!🌕
