Thursday's Thoughts: Some Post-Election Perspective

" I will praise and give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples;
and I will sing praises unto you among the nations. For Your mercy
and loving-kindness are great and high as the heavens! Your truth
and faithfulness reach to the skies!  Be exalted, O God, above the
heavens, and let Your glory be over all the earth."
(Psalm 108:3-5)

It was an earth-shaking moment early Wednesday morning when I learned-
after staying up way past my bedtime-the news that Donald Trump had won the state
of Pennsylvania and thus secured the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election.

I cried. And I thanked and praised the Lord Jesus Christ for His abundant
mercy and pardon on this nation.  I knew the heart-felt prayers of His people
across this nation were answered and that America has been given a reprieve
from the spiritual death sentence she received after the highly
controversial presidential election in 2020.

I am grateful to the Amish citizens of Pennsylvania for their overwhelming support
in voting for President Trump.  And I thank the millions of Americans who,
regardless of color, race, political, religious, and social/economical status voted
early, or in keeping with tradition, went out and stood in long lines at polling
centers across this nation in order to make their voices heard on Tuesday.

The spiritual legacy of our Judeo-Christian heritage as a nation rose up this
week in the hearts of many Americans and We the People emerged victorious.

I pray babies will now be safe in the womb.  And America's children will be
safe in the classroom.  That women will be protected when playing sports,
or using locker rooms and rest room facilities designated for females only.

I pray  those unjustly incarcerated for standing up for the sanctity
of human life will be pardoned and will regain their freedom.

I pray the people of the Southeast affected by the hurricanes will be able to
rebuild their shattered lives with ample support from the new administration.

I pray our Constitution will be upheld in the way our founders originally
wrote it and respected to protect the rights of all American citizens.

And, God I thank You, that the war-torn nation of Israel will now
have a true friend and ally in the White House.

But the spiritual battle for the soul of our nation is far from over.

The predictable reaction by the political Left, and the news media to the re-election
of Donald Trump, is clear evidence of the forces of human and spiritual evil
at work, seeking to undermine and destroy America.

Furthermore, there are so many spiritually lost and hurting people in our nation today.

The time is now for the remnant church to rise up and get busy preaching the simple,
yet powerful, life-saving message of the Gospel.  As the apostle Paul reminds us
in Romans 10:17: "So faith comes from hearing what is told and what is heard
comes by the preaching of the message concerning Christ."

May Almighty God continue to bless the great land called America!
