Full Strawberry Moon Tonight

A stunning vision of celestial beauty graced the humid skies
over southern New Jersey last night.  Due to the increased heat,
the normally pale face of White Shell Woman was infused
with a rosy orange glow as she sailed in watchful silence above
the darkening tree tops and into increasingly cloudy skies.

The moon will be completely full tonight and although
rain has been predicted for my area, I hope the skies
will clear off so I can watch her rise again.

Like last month's full moon, June's Strawberry Moon will
be a Super Moon, the second of this year,  and will appear larger
and brighter in the sky.  This phenomenon occurs when
the moon's orbit is closest to the earth.

In the language and tradition of my Cherokee ancestors,
this month's full moon is called, "Tihaluhiyi" or the Green Corn Moon.

At the first sign of a corn tassel and other crops of the field emerging
from the earth, the people began to prepare for the upcoming festivals
of the growing season.  Also at this time of the year, the AniGadugi,
a volunteer aide society, would go about their humanitarian work,
making repairs on homes and other buildings, and helping
the needy, the elderly, and the infirm in Cherokee villages.

🌝Hope the skies are clear where you are tonight!🌝
