"Let each one give as they have made up their own mind and purposed
in their heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion,
for God loves a cheerful giver whose heart is in their giving."
And God is able to make all grace, every favor and earthly blessing,
come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all
circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient, possessing
enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance
for every good work and charitable donation.
As it is written, the benevolent person, scatters abroad;
They give to the poor; Their deeds of justice and goodness and
and kindness and benevolence will go one and endure forever.
And God Who provides seed for the sower and bread for the eating
will also provide and multiply your resources for sowing and increase
the fruits of your righteousness which manifests itself in
active goodness, kindness, and charity."
(11 Corinthians 9:8-10)
CORRESPONDING OLD TESTAMENT VERSE:
"They who have a bountiful eye shall be blessed,
for they give of their bread to the poor."
(Proverbs 22:9)
"For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens,
and return not there again, but water the earth and make it
bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower
and bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth;
it shall not return to Me void, without producing any
effect, useless, but it shall accomplish that which I please
and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."
(Isaiah 55:10-11)
"Sow for yourselves according to righteousness, uprightness
and right standing with God; reap according to mercy and loving-
kindness. Break up your uncultivated ground, for it is time to
seek the Lord, to inquire for and of Him, and to require His favor,
till He comes and teaches you righteousness and rains
His righteous gift of salvation upon you."
(Hosea 10:12)
