"He sends forth His command to the earth;
His Word runs swiftly.
He spreads the snow like wool;
He scatters the frost like ashes;
He casts forth His hail like pebbles.

Who can withstand His icy blast?
He sends forth His word and melts them;
He unleashes His winds, and the waters flow.
He declares His Word to Jacob,
His statues and judgments to Israel.
He has done this for no other nation;
they do not know His judgments.
Hallelujah!
(Psalm 147:15-20)
Snow In The Bible
Snow is often used in Scripture to symbolize purity
and the cleansing power of God.
In Isaiah 1:18, the Lord invites His people to reason together,
declaring, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white
as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool."
This verse highlights the transformative power of God's forgiveness,
likening it to the pure whiteness of snow.
The purity and brilliance of snow are also used to describe the majesty
and holiness of God. In Daniel 7:9, the Ancient of Days is depicted as
wearing a raiment, "as white as snow" which emphasizes the Lord's
righteousness and His eternal nature.
In the New Testament, at the moment of Transfiguration, Jesus appears
to His disciples in garments of radiant white, " brighter than any
launderer on earth could bleach them."
(Mark 9:3)
Although snow is a rare occurrence in Israel with its warm Mediterranean
climate, there have been times in the past when snow has fallen on the
city of Jerusalem as well as in the higher elevations like Mount Hermon.
Snow represents not only God's power, but also His judgment.
In these uncertain and perilous times for the nation of Israel and the
nations of the earth, let the words of David in Psalm 68 remind us:
"God arises. His enemies are scattered,
and those who hate Him flee His presence.
As smoke is blown away,
You will drive them out;
as wax melts before the fire,
the wicked will perish in the presence of God.
When the Almighty scattered the kings in the land,
it was like the snow falling on Zalmon. (Mt. Ebal)."
(Psalm 68:1,2,-14)
