His Name Is Alberto

The Atlantic Hurricane Season officially starts June 1st.

However, just in time for Memorial Day weekend,
the first subtropical storm is churning northward towards
the United States from the eastern Gulf of Mexico.
The storm has been named Alberto and, according to the
latest weather reports, he might be turning into a tropical storm
within the next 24 to 48 hours.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm will
bring heavy rain and near gale force winds from
from Florida to Louisiana as well as flooding and dangerous rip currents
all along the Gulf Coast this weekend and into the early part of next week.

My thoughts and prayers are with the citizens of the Gulf Coast.

Sub-Tropical Storm Alberto viewed from a satellite image, will be
heading for the Gulf Coast of the United States this weekend.

You Never Can Tell

You never can tell when you send a word
Like an arrow shot from a bow
By an archer blind, be it cruel or kind,
Just where it may chance to go.

It may pierce the breast of your dearest friend,
Tipped with its poison or balm,
To a stranger's heart in life's great mart
It may carry its pain or its calm.

You never can tell when you do an act
Just what the results will be,
But with every deed you are sowing a seed,
Though the harvest you may not see.

Each kindly act is an acorn dropped
In God's productive soil;
You may not know, but the tree shall grow
With shelter for those who toil.

You never can tell what your thoughts will do
In bringing you hate or love,
For thoughts are things and their airy wings
Are swifter than carrier doves.

They follow the law of the universe-
Each thing must create its kind,
And they speed o'er the track to bring you back
Whatever went out from your mind.

On My Mind: Current Events

The United States Flag and the Flag of North Korea

PRESIDENT TRUMP CANCELS SUMMIT WITH NORTH KOREA

What seemed at first like a prevailing mood of cautious optimism has now
dissolved into the impossible dream.  Yesterday, President Trump wisely decided to
cancel the upcoming denuclearization summit set for June 12th with
North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un, due to the latter's "tremendous
anger and open hostility" toward the United States.

Our president was responding to a North Korean diplomat's
warning that the United States was facing a "nuclear-to- nuclear"
showdown with North Korea. President Trump quickly responded that
our military is fully prepared to meet any confrontation with North Korea.

Although the North Korean government recently agreed to release
three American Christians from prison, this gesture of good will has since
been eclipsed by Kim Jong Un's erratic behavior and threats against us.

According to Voice of the Martyrs, North Korea remains at the top
of the list of the worst violators of human rights in the world.
Christians there refuse to worship their leader-which is required by the state-
and many have been arrested and imprisoned in horrendous hard labor camps.
Men, women, and children are routinely starved, beaten, and
tortured by their captors before being worked to death.

Perhaps with this in mind, as well as the ongoing threats to use
nuclear weapons against us, President Trump has realized it would be
a pointless waste of his time to sit down across the table from
this unpredictable adversary.  Personally speaking, I think the
pertinent issues of human rights and nuclear weapons
will only be resolved with the removal of Kim Jong Un.

My prayer is that the people of North Korea have been
influenced by the spirit of cautious optimism between our two
nations and that they will rise up and demand reform, which
will eventually lead to the removal of this dangerous
tyrant from the helm of government power there.

FLORIDA GROCERY CHAIN COMES UNDER FIRE
FOR SUPPORTING PRO-SECOND AMENDMENT POLITICIAN

The Florida-based grocery store Publix has been caught in the
cross-hairs of the "voice" of the gun control movement, David Hogg,
who is not only demanding that the grocery store chain withdrawl
their support of Republican gubernatorial candidate, Adam Putnam,
an NRA "A" rated politician, but, is calling on the store to give
one million dollars to the Stoneman Douglas Victims Fund.

According to a recent article in The Washington Times,
this donation is considered to be 'atonement money' for
the store's support of Putnam, who currently serves as
the state's agricultural commissioner.

The Tampa Bay Times reported earlier this week that
Publix has given $670,000 to Putnam's campaigns in the
last three years.

So, because this store chooses to support a public servant
who is obviously a supporter of the Second Amendment and
has been given the highest rating by the National Rifle Association,
David Hogg feels he has the right to subject them to political extortion?
And what the heck is a "die-in" protest that Hogg
is reportedly calling for at the store?

David Hogg says he was a victim of the Stoneman Douglas
high school shootings, and while I am in no way disputing this,
he is doing a great disservice to the memory of those lost in that
terrible tragedy by using his anti-gun platform to bully and threaten
those who do not agree with his political agenda.

Several weeks ago, Mr. Hogg, was one of the leaders
of a huge protest against guns in Washington DC.
As an American citizen that is his right.
However, while he and his fellow protesters screamed about
the alleged irresponsibility of gun laws in America, they had absolutely
no problem displaying their own apparent lack of responsibility, as
well as respect for the rights of others, by leaving the streets
of our nation's capitol in a state of utter disarray.

Trash left behind after "March For Our Lives" rally
held in Washington DC earlier this year.

We the People have every right to support and vote for
the political candidates of our choice without
being threatened by out-of-control anti-gun swineherds
who won't even bother to clean up after themselves!

"GIVE ME YOUR POOR, OPPRESSED, AND ILLEGAL MASSES,
AND I'LL GIVE YOU SANCTUARY CITIES AND A FREE COLLEGE EDUCATION."

Well, perhaps those are not exactly the words used by New Jersey
Governor Phil Murphy, however, he recently signed  legislation which
will provide illegal immigrants with a free college education in our state!
Hmmm...does this mean that members of the notorious Mexican
gang MS-13 will soon be gracing the hallowed halls of Rutgers University in Camden?

That perhaps they'll be hired on as tour guides at the Camden Aquarium?
Could it actually be that our most benevolent governor is hoping these really bad
hombres from south-of-the-border will make Camden their next East Coast stronghold?
Only time and the rapid increase of appalling crimes will tell.

Much to the horror of many people in southern New Jersey,  Camden,
once the home of such prestigious American companies like RCA and
Campbell's Soup, not only remains on the list of the Top Ten Most
Dangerous Cities In America, but, considers itself a sanctuary city,
whose unconstitutional claims are now being bolstered by an
equally unconstitutional promise by Governor Murphy to
make  New Jersey an official "sanctuary state".

I hope all the people who voted this fool into office are happy!
Especially those who are shelling out thousands and thousands of
hard-earned dollars to put their kids through college here!
But, as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for!

For more unbiased coverage of loony liberalism from
the Garden State, stay tuned, folks!

Meanwhile, have a very blessed and safe
Memorial Day weekend.

And if you love being a free American,
remember to thank a Vet.

I Am An American Day 2018

A traditional observation on the 3rd Sunday of May,
-rarely heard of or talked about these days-
honoring our great land of freedom and her people.

The Founding Fathers

"I've thought and read a lot more about what it means
to be an American since I was given the honor of being nominated
to help lead her in 2008. What I've come to realize is that, as
a country, our true north is the values and principles on which
we were founded-those values that are under attack today.

When times are uncertain-when were worried about
the direction our country is headed in, as we are today-we can
always turn to these fundamental principles.

Truth be told, they're old ideas, not just the notion
that our government should be limited, but also that all
men and women are equal before the law;
that life is sacred, and that God is the source
of our rights, not government.

The wonder of America is that old ideas created a nation
that is always new, always innovating and moving forward.
That is the miracle of America."
-Sarah Palin
 Former Governor of Alaska,
From her book, "America By Heart"
(2010)

THE AMERICAN FREEDOM
Matthew Biller

The American land is a land of freedom
Where liberty's bell rings major notes,
Where folks make rules and laws as they need'em
And voice their say from reckless throats
And carry the government under their coats.

There's no sense in driving American people,
They set their pace by the home-town clock;
Their wills are as sharp as the village steeple,
Their wants are precise as the Rector's frock,
Their ways are as stubborn as Plymouth Rock.

American liberties have a flavor
Of tall corn growing, and wheat at prime,
Of wayside stands that have the savor
Of fresh-made hamburgers-two for a dime:
Of buckwheat cakes at breakfast time...

Of pine-capped mountains, and far-flung plains,
And houses built by the hands of neighbors;
Of apples sweet with summer rains,
And cities sprung from the seed of labors:
Of freedom got with muskets and sabers.

The Americans laugh at their schools and teachers,
At the upper class with their social tricks;
They laugh at their presidents, lawyers, and preachers,
At the man who cheers and the man who kicks.
They laugh most of all at their politics.

They go to the polls and cast their ballots
(If they've paid their proper taxes and fees)
They open their town hall meetings with mallets
And conduct them pretty much as they please-
They squabble and joke and take their ease.

There is no predicting an American's future
By the wealth or the people he was born amid;
He might grow up as the county moocher,
Or he might build a bridge on the lowest bid...
He might go to Washington as Lincoln did.

The American men have an independence
That is born of limitless hills and sky;
They make good soldiers and superintendents,
They know how to reach for a goal set high:
They know how to suffer-they know how to die.

The American way is slow and steady,
But should anyone doubt our will to be free
The encroacher who comes will find us ready-
Though his power be great- let him try and see
There'll be a rifle back of every tree!

AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL
Katherine Lee Bates

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountains majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Purple Mountains Majesty
Norman Engel

O beautiful for pilgrims feet,
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Third Sunday Meditation: Forevermore In Jesus

"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never
lose it or perish throughout the ages. To all eternity they
shall never by any means be destroyed. And no one is
able to snatch them out of My hand.
My Father, Who has given them to Me, is greater
and mightier than all else; and no one is able to snatch
them out of the Father's hand.
I and the Father are One."
John 10:28-29

Illustration of Jesus
By Gustave Dore

I've tried in vain a thousand ways
My fears to quell, my hopes to raise;
But what I need, the Bible says,
Is ever, only Jesus.

My soul is night, my heart is steel-
I cannot see, I cannot feel;
For light, for life, I must appeal
In simple faith in Jesus.

He died, He lives, He reigns, He pleads;
There's love in all His words and deeds;
There's all a guilty sinner needs
Forevermore in Jesus.

Tho' some should sneer, and some should blame,
I'll go with all my guilt and shame;
I'll go to Him because His name,
Above all names, is Jesus.

Armed Forces Day 2018

Hark! I hear the tramp of thousands,

And of armed men the hum;

Lo! a nation's hosts have gathered

Round the quick alarming drum...

Saying, "Come,

 Freemen, come!

Ere your heritage be wasted,"

said the quick alarming drum.

Lexington Green
19th of April, 1775
Don Troiani

"Let me of my heart take counsel:

War is not of life the sum;

Who shall stay and reap the harvest

When the autumn days shall come,

But the drum

Echoed, "Come!

Death shall reap the braver harvest,"

said the solemn-sounding drum.

"But when won the coming battle,

What of profit springs therefrom?

What if conquest, subjugation,

Even greater ills become?"

But the drum

Answered, "Come!

You must do the sum to prove it,"

said the Yankee-answering drum.

Charge of the Rough Riders at San Juan Hill
Spanish-American War 1898
Frederic Remington
(1909)

"What if, 'mid the cannons' thunder,

Whistling shot and bursting bomb,

When my brothers fall around me,

Should my heart grow cold and numb?

But the drum,

Answered, "Come!

Better there in death united than in life a recreant-Come!"

The Americans At Chateau-Thierry
World War I 1918/1919
NC Wyeth

Thus they answered-hoping, fearing,

Some in faith, and doubting some,

Till a trumpet-voice proclaiming,

Said, "My chosen people, come!"

Then the drum

Lo! was dumb

For the great heart of the nation, throbbing,

answered, "Lord, we come!"
