Wednesday's Word: Shachar/Dayspring

"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
For behold, darkness covers the earth, and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but, the LORD will rise upon you, and His glory will appear to you."
(Isaiah 60:1-2)

"Dayspring" in Hebrew is the word, "Shachar" and means to break forth, as the dawn,
or the first light of a new day. Metaphorically speaking, it represents hope, renewal,
and divine intervention.  Of light overcoming darkness.

Jesus is the Light, the Dayspring sent from on high, to destroy the darkness of this world.

"Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the Dayspring from on high hath
visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace."
(Luke 1:78-79)
