Sunday Night In Uncle Walt's Vault: The Mooncussers

 

 

 

 

 In this historic adventure drama first aired in December, 1962  "The Mooncussers" 
tells the story of a group of treacherous 19th century land pirates operating 
along the East Coast of the United States.

Set in the 1840's, a band of pirates called Mooncussers are looking for unsuspecting
  ships to wreck by using false signal lights near a village on the Long Island shore.

 Pirate leader Mr. Wick (Robert Emhardt) orders his men to set a trap for the Emily, 
a clipper ship of the E.P. Hallett Line.   His plot is foiled however through the efforts 
 of young Johnny Feather, who thwarts the pirates' nefarious scheme along with
Dan Hallett, who has arrived in the village to investigate and stop the Mooncussers.

 With an introduction by Walt Disney himself, this presentation stars child
  actor Kevin Corcoran as Johnny Feather, Rian Garrick as Dan Hallett,
 Oscar Homolka as Uriah Hawk,  Joan Freeman as Betsy Feather,
 Erin O'Brien Moore as Mrs. Feather, and Dub Taylor as Fire Tender.

 In the exciting conclusion of "The Mooncussers" Dan's father,
  E.P. Hallett (Robert Burton) arrives in town to oversee the search for 
the pirates. Meanwhile, tensions rise along the coast as local residents
and law enforcement join forces to confront the wreckers.
