"Oh, shine on, shine on, harvest moon,
Up in the sky...."
According to the folks over at the Old Farmer's Almanac,
October's first Full Moon will rise tonight at 5:06 P.M. (EST).
This month, however, sky watchers be treated to what is called
a "Blue Moon" or two full moon cycles in the same month.
The next Full Moon will rise on Halloween night!
Harvest Moon Sugar Cookies
Make them as round as the moon!
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract

Mix all the ingredients together well.
Using a small ice cream scoop or a large tablespoon, roll dough

into balls ( about the size of a large walnut) and flatten slightly with
the palm of your hand. Place on greased and floured cookie sheet.
With the tins of a fork dipped in water press the top of the cookies
for an old-fashioned criss-cross look.
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or less depending on your oven.
