On My Mind: For Our Daughters Sake

"Let marriage be held in honor in all things.
And thus let the marriage bed be undefiled;
for God will judge and punish the unchaste
and adulterous."
(Hebrews 13:4)

According to an email I received today from Matt Staver of the Liberty Counsel,
in the state of Idaho, a 39 year old having sexual relations with a 13 year old is classified
as rape or lewd conduct with a minor, which is punishable by life in prison, as it well
should be, unless- the 39 year old perpetrator of the crime manages to marry his victim!

This is absolutely sickening and sounds completely insane, and yet, "marriages" like this
are happening, such in the case of Idaho resident, Shirley Perez, who was raped at the age
of twelve and forced by her own family to marry the 39 year old man who assaulted her.
Shirley bore the first of her rapist's five children when she was only fourteen years old.

Furthermore, her "husband" forbade her from finishing her education. When she
tried to return to school, he severely beat her after she was five minutes late while
returning home one day.  Shirley never went back to school.

According to Matt Staver,  the state of Idaho has the largest number
of child brides in the United States today!

"Not Without My Daughter"
(1991)

"Not Without My Daughter" a 1991 movie based on a true story,
recounts the harrowing experience of an American woman, Betty Mahmoody,
(played by actress Sally Field)  who escapes from her abusive husband in Iran,
after being tricked by him into visiting his family there.

What she initially thought to be a brief family vacation quickly turned
into a nightmare when Betty discovered her husband, Moody,( played by
actor Alfred Molina) had no intention of returning to America.

When she learns that her father has become seriously ill back home,
Moody tells Betty she can leave Iran to go and see him. However,
he refuses to allow their young daughter, Mahtob, to go with her.

Betty refused to leave her daughter behind and embarks on a
dangerous journey to escape from her husband and Iran.
Led across rugged terrain by total strangers, the
mother and daughter eventually reached Iran's border
with Turkey, and the safety of the U.S. Embassy there.

One of the main reasons for her willingness to undertake such
a dangerous risk was after Betty learned, through the man who
helped her to escape, that in some Muslim families like her husband's,
marriage between child brides and adult men was a traditional practice.

While this happens in Iran, it  should never be allowed to happen
in the United States of America.   By the way, I have to wonder,
where do all the "My body, My right" women's groups
stand on the issue of child brides?

You would think the feminists would be up in arms over this!
Instead, the silence has been deafening.

We Americans, who so value our liberty, and especially our
freedom of choice, cannot allow this evil perversion to become
legally sanctioned in this nation, which is what I fear will
happen if  HR 8404, more commonly known as the
"Respect For Marriage Act" should eventually pass the Senate.

According to Mr. Staver,  Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY)
is leaning hard on Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) to "rally" her colleagues
around this bill, which seeks to redefine marriage and will offer
protection for pedophiles and other sexual deviants, as it will
override state laws, including age limits regarding marriage.

Susan Collins, along with fellow Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)
have initiated a bi-partisan compromise in the form of an amendment
to HR 8404, however, according to Mr. Staver, their joint effort is
merely to garner more votes and will not protect Americans
 with religious or conscience objections.

As I  stated in an earlier post, this bill is totally unconstitutional.

Congress does not have any constitutional authority
to change the definition of marriage.

Furthermore, any member of Congress who has voted to support
HR 8404 is in violation of the oath they took to uphold and to defend
the United States Constitution when they were sworn into office.

The state of Holy Matrimony is a sacred union, instituted by God
between one man and one woman.  The traditional family of
Husband-Father, Wife-Mother, and Children has been the
cornerstone of our free Constitutional Republic since
America's inception as a nation in 1776.

We need to protect and defend marriage and the family in America.

Although it is currently "on hold" until after the November elections
this year, if this evil bill eventually passes, I believe we will see our
nation, which is already teetering on the edge of political, economic,
and social collapse, deteriorate to the point of no return.

I would like to ask everyone reading this post and who cares
about the future of America to please consider taking the time
to call, email or fax their Congressional representatives today
and demand they vote "NO" on HR 8404.

May God continue to bless America.
