"Then I Myself will gather the remnant of My flock from all the lands
to which I have banished them, and I will return them to their pasture,
where they will be fruitful and multiply."
(Jeremiah 23:3)

El Ghriba, the oldest Jewish synagogue in the world, is located on
the island of Djerba, Tunisia off the coast of North Africa.
A site of pilgrimage, the buildings are said to date back to the 6th century.
Legend has it that either a stone or a door from Solomon's Temple (Second
Temple) in Jerusalem is incorporated in the building. Djerba remains the
home of one of the few Jewish communities left in the Arab world, however,
their existence on the island has significantly dwindled over the years,
especially after the creation of the state of Israel in 1948.

For over a thousand years, long before the rise of Islam in the 7th century,
Jews lived in every corner of the Middle East, from Yemen to Iraq to Egypt
to Morocco. This presentation covers the lost history of Jewish life
across Arab lands and the Islamic world, a story that is rarely
if ever mentioned in the news media today.
