Thursday's Thoughts: Homeschool Freedom Under Attack In New Jersey

"Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward."
(Psalm 127:1)

According to the recent e-mail I received from James R. Mason, President of  HSLDA,
Advocates For Homeschooling, no where is the right to teach children at home
more under attack than in the state of New Jersey, where four separate bills
are now pending-three unique proposals, and one duplicate pair known
as Assembly Bill 5796 and Senate Bill 4589, each designated to
curtail the rights of homeschooling parents.

If passed, these measures would include the following:

"Mandatory Wellness Checks" or parents and children being required to
meet annually with school officials for vague "health and wellness checks"
which would treat parents as guilty until proven innocent in regards
to their children's and their own mental health and physical well-being.

Despite the lies spun by the far left-leaning educational establishment,
which unfortunately controls most of the schools in the state today,
kids home schooled by their parents  are rarely "socially awkward"
or kept "isolated" by their circumstances. On the contrary, a majority
of those educated at home often are accepted into the most prestigious
colleges and universities in America.

"Curriculum Control". Families would be forced to align their instruction
precisely with  New Jersey's "Student Learning Standards" meaning
that the state would be in control of not only what subjects might be
taught, but would strip from the parents the right to design flexible,
faith-based, individual instruction for their children.

"DEI Mandates".  The title of this next measure which would be taken by
the state speaks for itself and is glaringly obvious in regards to the real
motives behind this impending legislation.  Parents who home school would
be compelled to teach "state-approved lessons" (a.k.a indoctrination) on
diversity, equity, and inclusion, gender identity, and sexual orientation,
despite the deeply held, faith-based convictions of the parents
or the ages and maturity levels of their children.

What does questioning your God-given gender or being forced to accept
transgender ideology and gender neutral public restrooms have to do
with learning how to read, to do basic arithmetic, or to sign your name
in cursive writing, which many kids today-including those at the
college level-cannot do?  Absolutely nothing!

The measures being proposed through these bills are a clear violation
of the First and Fourth Amendment rights of New Jersey parents and
their children as guaranteed under The United States Constitution,
which entitles all American citizens the right to freedom of speech,
and expression, the freedom of religion, the freedom from
unlawful searches and seizures, which includes the freedom to be
secure in their homes and in their person, whether they are learning
in a classroom environment or seated at the kitchen table.

Christian home-schooling parents should not only be afforded the right to
provide the best educational curriculum for their children, but, as builders
of eternity, have an obligation first and foremost to God to see that their
precious sons and daughters are shielded as much as possible from the
immoral filth which has infiltrated much of America's public school system.

Unfortunately, New Jersey is once again leading the nation in promoting
moral and political corruption.   And it is not only in this latest attempt to
deprive parents the right to home school their children.

Our state has become the springboard, not only as a "sanctuary" for the hideous
practice of infanticide, right up until the time of birth, but, it seems to me that if
lawmakers here cannot destroy enough children in the womb, their
next line of attack is murdering their souls in the classroom.

I urge everyone reading this today to call or write their district representatives
and ask them to vote no on this totally unnecessary, impending legislation.
