In the years following World War II, the summer road trip was the highlight
of family life in America, with many interesting roadside attractions to see
and visit in many places from coast-to-coast.

Opening inside a former dance hall in 1953, Roadside America, located just outside
of historic Shartlesville, in the heart of Pennsylvania's Dutch Country, was one such place.

This amazing indoor miniature village and railway, covering some 8,000 square feet,
transported thousands of visitors over the years to a simpler time and place,
a tiny replica of the America which used to be.

Unfortunately, after being closed down by COVID restrictions in March, 2020 the owners
announced on November 21, 2020 that they were closing permanently after trying
unsuccessfully to find a buyer and would be auctioning off the display.
