Throwback Thursday: Those Who Do Not Remember (The Recent) Past...

Will Almost Certainly Repeat It.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against
the authorities, against the powers of this world's darkness, and against the
spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
(Ephesians 6:12)

"I know war very well. I know what it means to live in terror, to run under air strikes
and cannonades, to see people killed and houses destroyed, to starve and dream of
a piece of bread...I know because I belong to the Second World War generation and
because, as a member of the Resistance, I was myself a soldier...I do not believe in
vile acquittals, phony appeasements, easy forgiveness.  Even less, in the exploitation
or blackmail of the word, Peace. When peace stands for surrender, fear, loss of dignity,
and freedom, it is no longer peace. It is suicide."

Given the current situation in the Middle East and in America today,
and especially President Trump's recent, troubling "cease-fire" deal
with the Islamic Republic of Iran, I submit the following letter I wrote
to the Editor of The Sentinel Newspaper of Franklin Township
which was published on February 7, 2008.

Dear Editor:  I knew there was a reason I felt compelled to read the novel, "1984"
in high school. George Orwell's nightmarish vision of life under a totalitarian
government is fast becoming a stark reality some twenty five years into the
future with the recent push for federally-mandated National ID Cards
by the Department of Homeland Security.

What ever happened to "We, the People"?  Why should law-abiding American
citizens be subjected to what is clearly a violation of their privacy by a form
of identification designed to track future terrorists? Furthermore, the
Department of Homeland Security was created too late in the game
for thwarting those who hate us and want to destroy us.

Those with an agenda of waging jihad (holy war) against us are already
here (on American soil) aided in their quest by the adherents of political
correctness in our country, who blaspheme the Christian faith while
defending the followers of militant Islam.

According to Jihad Watch.com, a Muslim cleric in Los Angeles predicts
that America will be overtaken by Islam by 2050. At least that is what he
and others like him who believe in subjugation by the sword are hoping.

Radical Islam has been wreaking havoc in other areas of the world, particularly
in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, and now southern Europe.  Christian men,
women, and children are being mercilessly slaughtered on a daily basis in places
like Eritrea and Somalia because they refuse to deny their faith in Jesus Christ.

In America, we who are Christians are mocked and ridiculed for what we believe
and have been deemed the enemy by the self-righteous news media and Hollywood.
Meanwhile, those who hate us are sharpening their swords with religious glee.

It would be better if the Department of Homeland Security issued a mandate to
our State Department and President Bush to stop bending and scraping to our
enemies, like the Saudi Royal Family. We do not need foreign oil or influence
from the people who are protecting Osama bin Laden. We have more than
enough oil and natural gas beneath our own soil right here!

Furthermore, everyone seems to be so worried about the problem with
illegal immigration. The Mexican people have been coming here for years.
They are doing the menial jobs that most Americans are too proud and lazy
to work. While I believe that they should have to come here legally, the
poor Mexicans are not a threat to our national security.

The vast influx of money from Saudi Arabia building schools and mosques
on American soil that teach and preach hatred towards our way of life is
far more dangerous. In the meantime, our government is continuing to
allow our enemies to dictate the gas and oil prices here!

I used to find it amusing when the shadowy figure of Osama bin Laden
would crawl out from under a rock somewhere and spout such grandiose
statements like, "One day the sword of Islam will pierce the heart of the Eagle".
That was before September 11, 2001.  It is not funny anymore.
