The beautiful Full Pink Moon, the first full moon of springtime
will rise tonight and be visible on the southeastern horizon just after sunset.
This month's full moon is also called the Paschal Moon, because
it determines the date of Easter each year. The word, "Paschal" comes
from the Greek word, "Pascha" and the Hebrew word, "Pesach"
which means "to jump" (Greek) or "to pass over" (Hebrew).

In regards to it's name, the Full Pink Moon is not actually pink in color, but
coincides with the blooming of an eastern North American wildflower at
this time of the year commonly called, "Creeping Phlox or "Moss Pink".

Creeping Phlox ( Moss Pink) is an excellent ground
cover for landscape edging and for use in rock gardens.
It also comes in shades of light blue, white, and pink
and white "candy stripes" varieties.
