"A Tenacious Woman Of God": Remembering Beverly LaHaye

"The true test of walking in the Spirit will not be the way we act but the
way we react to the daily frustrations of life."
-Beverly La Haye

Beverly Jean Davenport LaHaye
(April 30, 1929-April 14, 2024)
American Christian Conservative Activist
Founder of Concerned Women For America

In 1978, Beverly LaHaye was watching a television interview with Betty Friedan,
American feminist and author of the 1963 book, "The Feminine Mystique" which is
often credited as the spark that ignited the Women's Movement in the latter
20th century.  Freidan was the founder of NOW, the National Organization
For Women.   Beverly saw Freidan's radical views were specifically
"to dismantle the bedrock of American culture: the family."   She further
recognized that Christian women whom held traditional views concerning
their role in marriage, child-rearing, and homemaking were increasingly
looked upon with contempt by the feminist movement.  In 1979,
she created an organization called  Concerned Women for America.

The goal of the CWA has been to protect and to promote biblical and
constitutional principles through prayer, education, and politically conservative
activism.  The main goals of the organization has been to defend and protect
the sanctity of human life, the traditional family, education, freedom
of speech and the right to worship, America's national sovereignty,
and support for the nation and people of Israel.

"It hard to imagine a woman who has had a greater impact on our culture
than our founder," said current CEO and President of  Concerned Women
for America Penny Nance.  We are forever grateful for her vision, her wisdom,
and her spiritual leadership.  A tenacious woman of God, her legacy will live
on and be cherished by the organization she founded and the millions of
people she has touched."

Beverly La Haye was married to evangelical Pastor Dr. Tim La Haye, co-author of
the "Left Behind" series for 69 years before his passing in 2016.  She was the mother
of four children, grandmother of nine, and great-grandmother of twenty.
Mrs. La Haye served in many ministries and wrote and co-authored
more than 30 books in her lifetime.

Well done, good and faithful servant.

May she rest safely in the arms of Jesus.
