Based on the Aesop fable of the same name, this charming animated
short proves the old adage that slow and steady really does win the race!
Max Hare, the cocksure athletic rival of sluggish underdog Toby Tortoise,
is said to have been the inspiration for Warner Bros. "wascally wabbit"
a.k.a. Bugs Bunny, who first appeared in cartoons in 1940.
After the release of "The Tortoise And The Hare" Max and
Toby made another appearance together in the 1936
animated short, "Toby Tortoise Returns".
