Wednesday's Word: Turn Away And Turn Back To God America

Repent:  to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one's life;
to feel regret or contrition; to change one's mind.

After reading about the events happening at the Democratic National Convention this week,
with various speakers quoting from the Holy Scriptures, while an "abortion van" looms
on the street outside the convention center as a visible symbol of the party's fanatical
commitment to infanticide,
I have continually asked myself, how much longer will it be
 until God
executes His final judgment on the United States of America?

I found myself looking through my Bible this morning for an answer
concerning all the chaotic events happening within our nation. The
Holy Spirit pointed out to me the lament of the prophet Jeremiah, who
was sent to warn and convict the hearts of the people of Jerusalem after
they turned away from worship of the One True God to embrace
appalling acts of wickedness in His sight.  One of the most
heinous were the child sacrifices to Baal "to burn their sons
in the fire as burnt offerings."
(Jeremiah 19:5).

God continued to state His case against the nation of Israel by justly
accusing them of having become wise in their own eyes and that their
version of the truth had become lies from the pens of scribes whom have
turned His moral law or the command, "Thou shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13)
into a mere formality, not unlike some Democrat speakers
at the convention.

For example, On Wednesday night,  Massachusetts Senate candidate
Elizabeth Warren quoted from Matthew 25:40:

"Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least of
these brethren, you did it for Me."

Do the "least of these" include the thousands upon thousands of defenseless babies,
made in the likeness and image of their Creator,  who will be aborted in the
name of "human rights" by your party, Ms. Warren?

The full verse is as such: "The King will answer and say to them, "I assure
you and most solemnly say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of
these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it for Me."

According to Matthew Henry's Commentary, what the Lord is speaking about
here is not empathy for or the protection of abortion as a "human right."

He is talking about the Last Judgment.

"There is a judgment to come, in which every man (and woman) shall be sentenced
to a state of everlasting happiness or misery.  Christ shall come, not only
in the glory of His Father, but in His own glory, as Mediator.

The wicked and the godly dwell together, in the same cities, churches, families,
and are not always to be known one from the other; such are the weaknesses of
saints and the hypocrisies of sinners; and death takes both; but in that day
they will be parted forever."

Jeremiah declared that the unrepentant people will be brought to shame
because they have willfully committed abominations,  which he calls,
"extremely  disgusting and shamefully vile things."

You do not have to look very far these days to see "extremely disgusting and
shamefully vile things" happening in our nation with no shame or remorse.

"Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time of their
punishment they shall be overthrown," God spoke through the prophet.

But even in His righteous vexation against the people and nation of Israel,
the Lord offered a merciful petition of clemency for those willing
to repent and return to Him.

"Thus says the Lord: Stand by the roads and look; and ask for the eternal paths
where the good, old way is; then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls."
(Jeremiah 6:16)

"Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me,  for I am gentle, meek, and humble,
lowly in heart, and you will find rest, relief and ease, and refreshment
and recreation and blessed quiet for your souls."
(Matthew 11:29)

Jeremiah further asks, "Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there?
Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people restored? "
(Jeremiah 8:22)

Because Zion no longer enjoys the presence of the Great Physician!

This is America in 2024.

Satan knows better than anyone else that he is running out of time.
He and his minions (both spiritual and human) are working around the
clock in order to take as many lost and hurting souls into the lake of fire
prepared for himself and his angels.

Although in the natural sense it is hard to pray for those engaging in or promoting
the appalling wickedness we are being subjected to on a daily basis, I am too often
reminded that Jesus came into this world to save the worst of sinners, as evidenced
by His forgiveness of the criminal who was dying on the cross beside Him.

We who believe have not only been appointed to be watchers on the walls in
these increasingly dark and desperate days for our nation, but are required to keep
vigilant in praying against the strongholds of spiritual darkness in high places,
which are holding America captive while destroying her from within.

As I have said many times before, time is of the essence here.

And with each passing day, time is running out.
