Remembering Farrah

 1970's Stunner
The "Farrah in a red swimsuit" record-breaking poster
sold over ten million copies in 1976.

Despite everything-good and not so good- written about Farrah Fawcett, one thing remains certain. Farrah was a beautiful woman. Almost every adolescent girl in the mid-1970's -myself included- wanted to be Farrah.

Or at least have Farrah's hair.

In the years following Charlie's Angels the ultimate Me Decade hot babe in the red bathing suit fought long and hard to distance herself from the perky blonde image of 'Angel' Jill Monroe while building her reputation as a serious and highly successful actress.
Farrah stunned viewers as the long-suffering, brutalized housewife with a flare for revenge in the movie, The Burning Bed,(1984) followed by her believable portrayal of the relentlessly determine Nazi hunter Beate Klarsfeld, in The Beate Klarsfeld Story (1986), not to mention her bone-chilling realism as child killer Diane Downes in Small Sacrifices (1989). She also won reviews as the terrorized rape victim who turns the tables on her attacker in both the off-Broadway play (1983) and movie version of Extremities. (1986), for which she received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress.
While I really do not know what happened  in the marriage between Farrah and her Six Million Dollar Man,  Big Valley star and first husband, Lee Majors, Farrah seemed to have a long and happy, if sometimes stormy relationship with actor Ryan O'Neal. I remember when she was pregnant with their son, Redmond.
Even with a big belly Farrah looked fabulous!

In fact, Farrah was always in great shape.
This native Texan was the living embodiment of the classic blonde California surfer girl.

That's why it really shocked me when I found out she was suffering from rectal cancer. Farrah had cancer? I guess it really is the truth that cancer does not discriminate when it comes to victims.

Although Farrah and Ryan had drifted apart in recent years, he was there for her through her long suffering and was at her side when she died a year ago today. Of course, news of her death was quickly eclipsed by the sudden demise of
music and pop culture legend Michael Jackson.
Today, as the world once again pays extravagant homage
 to his untimely passing,
I am choosing to honor the memory
of the beautiful and talented Farrah.
May she rest in peace.

Back in the day, everyone wanted the "FFM look".
Myself included!

 The original Farrah Fawcett doll
released by MEGO in 1977.

Mattell's Farrah doll in the iconic red swimsuit
was released in July, 2011. Part of the
proceeds from sale of the doll will go
to the Farrah Fawcett Foundation
for cancer research.

May she rest in peace.

The Truth About Israel

Contrary to world condemnation, Israel had every right to board the
"terrortilla". We Americans have no idea what it is like to live
under the constant threat of annihilation.
Furthermore, tiny Israel has one of the highest standards of living in
the Near East. So maybe it was partially built on the donations of
wealthy Jews in the West. So what? Last year, Obama issued a silent
boycott against selling US arms to Israel, while selling millions of
dollars worth of military hardware to the hostile Arab nations
surrounding her. The Pavlov canines in the American news media who
slobber regularly at Obama's feet conveniently failed to report on
this boycott. Only recently, Obama gave away 400 million dollars to PA
Chairman Mahmoud Abbas for his “cause.” Meanwhile, illiterate Arab
children still run and play in raw sewage in the streets of Ramallah,
while their teen-aged brothers and sisters are being groomed to become
"glorious suicide bombers."
Jesus said, “You will know a tree by it’s fruits.”
Israel leads the world, even surpassing the United States, in science,
technology, and medicine.
Many US Fortune 500 companies in these fields have offices in Tel Aviv
and Jerusalem.
And, unlike the belligerent Arab regimes which surround Israel and
long to see it’s demise, Israel does not have an integration problem.
Unlike the recent racial unrest weve witnessed in the central Asian
country of Kyrgyrstan, and despite the outrageous lies and smear
campaign being conducted by her detractors in the biased world news
media, Israel does a very good job accomodating it’s Arab
citizens. They are guaranteed the right to a good education, to
employment, to worship unhindered, and the right to vote in the
political elections, the same as their Jewish neighbors. Eleven
members of the Israeli Knesset are Arabs. Furthermore, Druze Arabs,
(those of primarily Syrian and Lebanese descent) regularly serve in
the Israeli Defense Force.

Cross In The Desert

Originally written :May 5, 2010

It’s a good day at Sunrise Rock. At least for now. The Supreme Court recently decided in favor of The American Legion, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, and other veteran service organizations in a court battle with the American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU was demanding that a memorial cross originally planted by WWI vets atop an outcropping of rock in the Mojave Desert Preserve be removed and destroyed.

Writing the lead opinion in the 5-4 decision, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy compared the Mojave Cross to a highway memorial to a fallen state trooper, and pointed out that such displays, “need not be taken as a statement of governmental support for sectarian beliefs.”

He further wrote, “The Constitution does not oblige government to avoid any public knowledge of religion’s role in society. Rather, it leaves room to accommodate divergent values within a constitutionally permissible framework.”

The controversy over the Mojave Cross Memorial, which has stood on Sunrise Rock in the Mojave Desert Preserve since 1934, is yet another vain attempt by the American Civil Liberties Union to remove any and all symbols and associations of Christianity from America.

The plaintiff in this case, a former National Park Service Assistant Supervisor named Frank Buono, claimed that the sight of the cross “offended him.” Strangely enough, this man was employed at the Mojave Desert Preserve at the time former President Clinton incorporated the memorial into the Preserve in 1994. It was only after Buono retired and moved to Oregon-over 1,000 miles from the Mojave Desert- that he decided, with obvious influence from the ACLU, to raise a stink about the cross.

The ACLU’s argument is that the cross memorial is in violation of the Establishment Clause, or “separation of church and state.“ However, there is no such ‘clause’ written in our Constitution.

. The Constitution states, “Congress shall make no law regarding the establishment of religion…” which, simply put, means that the creation of a state-mandated national church is forbidden. “…Or, prohibit the free exercise there of.” which means that the veterans have every right to keep the monument standing in memory of their fallen comrades up on Sunrise Rock! Furthermore, the much abused ACLU mantra of “separation of church and state” was actually lifted from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802 to the Danbury Baptist Association:

.

“… I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.”

The Supreme Court’s decision in the case of the Mojave Cross is a great victory, not only for our brave veterans, who have fought to preserve our precious freedom, but for all Americans, who cherish their right to worship unhindered, and the right to freely express their faith.

Kudos To Koch

I always knew Ed Koch was a guy with guts. In a recent Op-Ed piece for Israelnationalnews.com, the former Mayor of New York City rebuked the Obama Administration, claiming that Barack Obama is not only anti-Israel, but "is willing to throw Israel under the bus in order to please Muslim nations". And these are words spoken by a fellow Democrat!
According to an article in Arutz Sheva, His Honor, in another Op-Ed piece written last summer, admits that he has gradually "fallen out of love" with the Anointed One, first with the current leader's strident effort to foist his recently passed socialism-through-healthcare edict on the American people, and now, Obama's deliberate snub of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on the latter's recent visit to Washington. (I'm glad he did not get a chance to snub Prime Minister Netanyahu a second time. Bibi's no fool. He's already got Obama pegged.)
Anyway, what right does our government have to tell Israel to stop building in their nation's capital? To add insult to injury, Obama refers to the city of Jerusalem as a "settlement." Settlement? Hardly so, Mr. President. The eternal city of the Jewish people is where Zion rests his head!
Furthermore, Obama blaming Israel's defiance for refusing to stop building in Jerusalem as the majoring stumbling block in his adminstration's efforts to revitalize the peace process is as false as it is embarrassing. The other major player in this conflict, the Palestinian Authority, headed by Arafat acolyte Mahmoud Abbas, does not recognize Israel's right to exist! The PA which used to be known more infamously as the Palestinian Liberation Organization, has never changed, or BEEN ADVISED TO CHANGE their organization's (and I use that word lightly) charter calling for Israel's destruction. The real beef in all of this lies in the fact that the enemies of Israel, who are already have the lands of Judea and Samaria surrounded, have now set their sights on the proverbial Jewel In The Crown, the City of Jerusalem. And Obama, whom I personally believe is a Muslim, is determine to let them have it!
Embolden by his tacit support and most of the Arab-Muslim World, as well as the absurd claim attributed to Iranian mad dog dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, that the creation of a side-by-side Palestinian State with the eastern sector of Jerusalem as it's capital will somehow cancel out the very real threat to Israel and the entire world coming from a nuclear Iran, the enemies of the Jewish people are once again forcing the issue of dividing the city of Jerusalem on to the world stage, again using their people as pawns to gain support and sympathy, but not for the creation of a Palestinian State. The rabid haters of the Jewish people and the traitors (Hello, Rahm Emmanuel, are you listening?) know very well that once this happens, Israel will be no more.
Since becoming a nation of the world in 1948, Israel has been America's most loyal friend and supporter in the Middle East.
"Well, it's supported by wealthy Jews here in the States", my critics claim.
"Well, so what? Wealthy Jews in America have just as much of a stake in their ancestral homeland as the Jews currently living in Judea and Samaria."
"Well, the US Government sells Israel all their weapons," they further claim.
" That's also true. But did you know that since Obama took office there has been an arms embargo against Israel? Meanwhile, the closet Muslim has conducted numerous deals for military arms with the Arab nations surrounding Israel. I guess oil talks, and bull-S**t walks!"
Meanwhile, Obama would rather bow before the King of Saudi Arabia, a sovereign whose nation not only has one of the most vile records of human right abuses in the world, but who rejects Israel's legitimacy as a nation. (So why was this guy determine to play a role in the now brain-dead "road map to peace?")
What other President of the United States has ever bowed before the sovereign of another nation? Obama is often compared to former President Jimmy Carter (their big toothy grins are practically identical) and yet, I have to honestly say not even the former peanut farmer from Plains ever bowed before another world leader!
This is America. Our founders disclaimed allegiance to the despotic King George III of England in order to establish themselves as a free and independent nation. (Not a colonial power as B. Hussein Obama so gallantly claims as he prances through Europe apologizing for America's perceived arrogance)...socialists living in glass houses should not throw stones...
The Greatest Generation of WWII stormed the beaches of Normandy to liberate Europe from the evil chokehold of Nazi Germany, and raised Old Glory on Iwo Jima as a symbol to those held captive in the Japanese-occupied lands of the Pacific that the hour of their deliverance was upon them.
While our Commander-In-Chief is required to show respect and courtesy to the presidents and prime ministers and sovereigns of other lands, as the LEADER of the FREE WORLD, an American President NEVER bends and scrapes before anyone!
And now Obama seems determine to make Israel into an international pariah, especially in the wake of the recent Gaza flotilla fiasco.
The Pharaoh of ancient Egypt tried to mess with God's Chosen People and like him, it will be Obama's own pride and arrogance in the sight of Jehovah which will ultimately be his undoing.

...and I will gain honor and glory over Pharaoh and all his hosts and the Egyptians shall know I AM THE LORD." Exodus 14:4

Miracle In The Desert

In 2008 scientists analyzing the rings of stalagmites from a cave near Jerusalem showed that the climate of the region became increasingly drier shortly after the Roman dispersion of the Jewish people in 70AD.
According to Rabbi Menachem Kohen, author of the book, "Prophecies for the Era of Muslim Terror: A Torah Perspective on World Events" these dramatic changes occured when the Jews were forced from their ancestral homeland. Rabbi Kohen claims that the land, "suffered an unprecedented and inexplicable drought" that lasted from the first century until the twentieth-an amazing stretch of 1800 years-which began shortly after the expulsion of the Jews from the land given to them by Jehovah God in his eternal covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
This is a significant fufillment of Biblical prophecy found in the Book of Deuteronomy ("Second Law-Giving") Chapter 28: 23-24:
"And thy Heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron. The Lord shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from Heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed."
In 2009, a team of geologists from the University of Wisconsin traveled to Israel to study the chemical composition of individual rings that formed stalgamite growing up from the floor of Soreq Cave near Jerusalem between 200 B.C. and 1100 A.D. The team concluded that the climate of the eastern Meditterranean area was indeed drier between 100 and 700 A.D., with a drastic shortage of rainfall around 100 and 400 A.D. thus marking the period of decline of both Roman and Byzantine forces in the region.
Researchers from Israel's Geological Society and Hebrew University in Jerusalem both participated in this fascinating lesson from history. The study was featured in the science journal, Quaternary Research and was actually in conjunction with another study about the effects of global warming.
The Jewish people entered into the land of Canaan, described in the Bible as a land "flowing with milk and honey." At the time when Moses' successor, Joshua, crossed over the Jordan River, the landscape of Israel was rich and green pasture, ideal for grazing animals, thus "milk" and for raising crops and bee-keeping, "honey." After the Jews were dispersed from their land by the Romans, who then renamed the region of land, which encompassed ancient Judea and Samaria, "Palestina" which translates to "land of Phillistines" it hardly ever rained in Israel. It became a dry and arid desert, inspiring the famous American writer Mark Twain, who traveled to the region to describe the region of Palestine as "a barren and sparsely populated wasteland."
A survey of weather charts in Israel, beginning in the early ninteenth century up through the sixth decade of the twentieth century confirms a major increase of rain with the return of the Jewish people to their ancestral home. Amazingly, the weather charts reveal that the heaviest amounts of rainfall during this 150 year period coincides with two of the most significant dates in the history of Israel. One was the year 1948, when a reborn Israel took her place among the nations of the world. The second occured in the year 1967, marking Israel's spectacular victory in the Six Day War. For the first time in over two thousand years, the Jewish people were once again in control of their eternal capital, the city of Jerusalem.
