Men To Match My Mountains

"As the mountains are about Jerusalem, So the Lord is around His people
From this time forth and forevermore."

Bring me men to match my mountains;

Bring me men to match my plains,-

Men with empires in their purpose,

And new eras in their brains.

Bring me men to match my prairies,

Men to match my inland seas,

Men whose thought shall pave a highway

Up to ampler destinies;

Pioneers to clear Thought's marshlands,

And to cleanse old error's fen;

Bring me men to match my mountains-

Bring me men!

Bring me men to match my forests,

Strong to fight the storm and blast,

Branching toward the skyey future,

Rooted in the fertile past.

Bring me men to match my valleys,

Tolerant of sun and snow,

Men within whose fruitful purpose

Time's consummate blooms shall grow.

Men to tame the tigerish instincts

Of lair and cave and den,

Cleanse the dragon slime of nature-

Bring me men!

Bring me men to match my rivers,

Continent cleavers, flowing free,

Drawn by the eternal madness

To be mingled with the sea;

Men of oceanic impulse,

Men whose moral currents sweep

Toward the wide-enfolding ocean

Of an undiscovered deep;

Men who feel the strong pulsation

Of the Central Sea, and then

Time their currents to its earth throb-

Bring me men!

*Abraham "Abram" Bledsoe was a noble, 18th century enslaved
man of bi-racial origins, who lived in what is now Sumner
County, Tennessee at the time of the Indian uprisings against
the continuing encroachment of white settlements on the frontier.

On April 27, 1793 "Abram" as he was called, repelled an Indian
 attack between Isaac Bledsoe's Fort and Anthony Bledsoe's
Greenfield.  Anthony Bledsoe was Abram's owner.

Only two months later, during a surprise encounter in a
canebrake with Cherokee Chiefs John Taylor and Mad Dog,
Abram shot and killed the latter.

According to Sumner County, Tennessee historical records:
  "He (Abram) was passing one evening from the Lick
fort up to Greenfield, when right in the thick canebrake he
 met two Cherokee chiefs of note, "Mad Dog" and "John Taylor"
the latter a half-breed, well known in Nashville before the
war broke out, and who could talk good English.
They has been on a visit to the Shawnees; and having
sent their warriors, they were on their way by themselves
to steal horses and murder any settler who might fall in
their way.  Abraham met them about ten paces off,
and instantly drawing up his gun, he shot Mad Dog
dead in his tracks, turning himself at once and
fleeing after his exploit."

In 1813, Abraham found a lost child named Josephus Conn Guild
and guided him to safety.  The rescued Guild never forgot this act of kindness.

Today's Prayer

"Help us, O God, to love our country.  Grant us the grace to cherish
the ideals which made it possible and have given it eminence among
the nations. May the faith of our fathers be our faith.  Forgive us
our personal and national sins, and endow us with the patriotism
that reveals a likeness to Thee in love and righteousness."
We ask it in Jesus' name, Amen.

Monday Meditation: Jehovah-Jireh/God Our Provider

"And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold,
behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by his horns:
and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him
up for a burnt offering in stead of his son.

And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh:
as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen."
(Genesis 22: 13-14)

In the story of Abraham's offering of  Isaac, as a type of Christ,
 Isaac was "obedient unto death" in regards to the will and purpose
of God, while Abraham represents the Father, who "spared
not His own Son, but delivered Him up to us all."
 (Romans 8:32)

It was never God's intention to sacrifice Isaac.  God would never
allow a human being to be used as a burnt-offering on an altar.
In the fullness of time, the Blessed Seed, God's only begotten,
 perfect Son, would take our place on the cross at Calvary;
 the precious shed blood of the Lamb of God provided
 a covering for all sin, and a reprieve from the death
sentence handed down to all human beings
through the fall of Adam.

 "In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen."
Jehovah-jireh will always provide for those who love and obey Him.

Dare to be brave, dare to be true,

Strive for the right,

for the Lord is with you;

Fight with sin bravely,

fight and be strong;

Christ is your Captain,

fear only what's wrong.

Fight then, good soldiers,

fight and be brave;

Christ is your Captain,

mighty to save.

Dare to be brave,

dare to be true,

God is your Father,

He watches o'er you;

He knows your trials;

when your heart quails,

Call Him to the rescue,

His grace never fails.

Fight then, good soldiers,

fight and be brave;

Christ is your Captain,

mighty to save.

Dare to be brave,

dare to be true,

God grant you courage

to carry you through;

Try to help others,

ever be kind,

Let all the erring

a friend in you find.

Fight then, good soldiers,

fight and be brave;

Christ is your Captain,

mighty to save.

On My Mind: The Outraged American

 My take on the latest media-hyped firestorm involving the 'sudden and inexplicable'
discovery of classified documents in Joe Biden's garage is, first of all, that America
 is one year away from another presidential election.  And, although they are
 hard-pressed to admit it, the Democrats have suffered a major blow to the
 credibility of their party-if indeed there is even a shred of credibility
left-with bumbling Biden continuing to remain in the White House.

 Perhaps this uncovering of documents will be the excuse
  they have been looking for to finally send him packing?

There also seems to be an ongoing effort to discredit former VP Mike Pence,
due to a cache of classified papers which recently surfaced at his house.
Although I am not yet certain Pence has officially tossed his hat into the ring,
the word on the street is that he will run for president in 2024.

 Why were there no dramatic Gestapo-like raids conducted under
  the cover of darkness on the homes of  Biden and Pence?
  Could this latest 'scandal' actually be yet another attempt to
mislead the American public, cooked up by the same people
intent on hiding the real reason behind the
 FBI's unconstitutional assault on Mar-a-Lago?

The politically- biased media is already exonerating Biden while continuing to condemn Trump.
Image courtesy/CNN

Although there are still many missing pieces in the puzzle, this is my own
speculation of how this latest brouhaha could possibly be linked
  to the unlawful action taken by agents of the federal
government in Florida last August.

I think that when President Donald Trump went to North Korea to meet with
 Kim Jong Un II,  the wily dictator may have handed over to him a detailed list,
gathered by North Korean intelligence, of all the people in our government who
  are not only involved in illegal and treasonous deals with communist China, but,
    of those who are actively involved in the profound evil of human sex trafficking.

When he was a practicing attorney, the Florida judge who issued the warrant to
the FBI to search Trump's home, once represented two women who previously
worked for notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.  I believe Trump not only may
have this list of names, but, he may also know what really happened to Epstein, and
 who was behind his faked suicide/murder.  This perhaps was the real reason, and not
the media's purported, " unlawful storage of nuclear codes" in First Lady Melania's
 wardrobe, which led to the unprecedented raid on the Trump residence.

Also, in the week before Election Day 2016,  General Michael Flynn let the
 the proverbial cat out of the bad, albeit prematurely, when he tweeted about
then presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's connections to a Washington DC
pizza restaurant, which both he and his son claimed was a front for
 satanic worship and child sex trafficking.

President Trump later fired Flynn, whom he had appointed his
  National Security Advisor, as well as Flynn's son, who worked
as an aide for the incoming president,  for what I believe was an
 attempt to expose what was later called, "The Pizzagate Scandal"
on a social media platform-definitely the wrong course of action
 to take- when trying to expose criminal wrongdoing and the
 possible involvement of a former First Lady of the United States.

 The accusations were later dismissed as a right-wing conspiracy theory by
 the news media, especially after an allegedly disturbed North Carolina man,
who believed the Flynns were telling the truth, traveled to Washington DC
and fired shots with a rifle into the Comet Pizza restaurant.

However, in August, 2020, Darpan Magazine reported that an accuser
of Jeffrey Epstein claimed that former President Bill Clinton had once
 been a guest at Epstein's private Caribbean island.  The victim,
Virginia Giuffre, testified that Clinton visited Little St. James Island
with Epstein's girlfriend, Ghislane Maxwell, herself, and two
young girls from New York City, and she added, that Clinton stayed
in Epstein's private residence on the island, where she claimed,
"orgies were a constant thing that took place."

Clinton later denied ever visiting Epstein's island.  However in
 January, 2020 an article in The Daily Mail claimed Darren Indyke,
  an attorney working for Jeffrey Epstein, tried to get two former
caretakers on Little St. James Island to sign an affidavit swearing
that they never saw Bill Clinton visiting there.  This feeble attempt
to scrub links between Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Clinton happened
 during Hillary Clinton's unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2016.

Only three days after the FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago,  I happened to watch
 an interview with an extraordinary woman named Dr. Juliette Engel
speaking with The New American Magazine.

Dr. Engel, who experienced firsthand the living nightmare of
human sex trafficking, was, at the age of six years old, sold by
 her own father into the CIA's MK Ultra "Sex Magick" cult.
She later escaped as a teenager and fled to Washington state.
By the grace of Almighty God, she attended college and earned
a doctorate, married, and had children.  She has since been
a warrior on the frontlines, aiding women and children
here in the United States and abroad, who have been
the victims of sex trafficking.

What really struck me was when she said that one of the greatest obstacles
 in combating this evil are people in the higher echelon of our own
  federal government who are actively involved in it!

While she did not name names, she did mention that there are members
of Congress, as well as other high-ranking officials in Russia,
 who have been aiding this abominable criminal enterprise.

 Since there are members of our government today who see nothing
wrong with murdering a baby in the womb right up until the time of
 birth and after, who see no moral conflict in selling the body parts
of aborted babies to the highest bidder, and who advocate
destroying the minds and souls of impressionable children with
 the perversion of "transgenderism" being taught in America's
classrooms,  the terrible reality that there are members
   of our government involved in the selling of children
 for sex does not surprise me.

  It does makes me disgusted and very angry.

There is a major spiritual battle going on in America today,
and unfortunately, much of the professing Christian church is
absolutely clueless.  "Church" in recent years, has become a big
 business, and especially for self-righteous hucksters posing as
 God's earthly representatives,  preaching heresy and "feel good"
 messages to the gullible and ignorant,
with nary a mention of
 the powerful
saving grace of the Gospel, and little or no
 emphasis on the consequences of sin-eternal damnation
 and the
 suffering existence of Hell -for those unredeemed
 by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  Jesus, however, often mentioned Hell, and cautioned His listeners:
  "And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot
  kill the soul; but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy
 both soul and body in Gehenna.(Hell)"
(Matthew 10:28)

One of my most fervent prayers these days is that this present entity
 posing as the federal government will eventually implode on itself and,
 that the people involved in the sex trafficking of children, and other
nefarious practices against the most innocent and defenseless, will be
  exposed and fall victim to their own wickedness.

The only hope they have is to surrender themselves at the foot of the Cross.

I have posted the link to Dr. Engel's interview below.

Take Thou Our Minds, Dear Lord

"For as many of you as were baptized with Christ,
into a spiritual union and communion with Christ,
The Anointed One, the Messiah, have
clothed yourselves with Christ."
(Galatians 3:27)

Let Your Light So Shine
Simon Dewey

Take Thou our minds, dear Lord, we humbly pray;

Give us the mind of Christ each passing day;

Teach us to know the Truth that sets us free;

Grant us in all our thoughts to honor Thee.

Take Thou our hearts, O Christ, they are Thine own;

Come Thou within our souls and claim Thy throne;

Help us to shed abroad Thy deathless love;

Use us to make the earth like heaven above.

Take Thou our wills, Most High! Hold Thou full sway;

Have in our inmost souls Thy perfect way;

Guard Thou each sacred hour from selfish ease;

Guide Thou our ordered lives as Thou dost please.

Take Thou ourselves, O Lord, heart, mind, and will;

Through our surrendered souls Thy plans fulfil.

We yield ourselves to Thee-time, talents, all;

We hear, and hence-forth heed, Thy sovereign call.

Amen.

Come, my soul, thou must be waking;

Now is breaking

O'er the earth another day:

 Come to Him

Who made this splendor;

 See thou render

All thy feeble powers can pay.

Thou too hail the light returning;

Ready burning

Be the incense of thy powers;

For the night is safely ended,

God hath tended

With His care thy helpless hours.

Pray that He may prosper ever

Each endeavor,

When thine aim is good and true;

But that He may ever thwart thee,

And convert thee,

When thou evil wouldst pursue.

Only God's free gifts abuse not,

Light refuse not,

But His Spirit's voice obey;

Thou with Him shall dwell, beholding

Light enfolding

All things in unclouded day.

Climb 'Til Your Dream Comes True

"The Lord will give unyielding and impenetrable strength to His people;
the Lord will bless His people with peace."
(Psalm 29:11)

Image courtesy/Pinterest

Often your tasks will be many,

And more than you think you can do.

Often the road will be rugged

And the hills insurmountable too.

But always remember, the hills ahead

Are never as steep as they seem,

And with Faith in your heart start upward

And climb til' you reach your dream.

For nothing in life that is worthy

Is never too hard to achieve

If you have the courage to try it

And you have the Faith to believe.

For Faith is a force that is greater

Than knowledge or power or skill

And many defeats turn to triumph

If you trust in God's wisdom and will.

For Faith is a mover of mountains

There's nothing that God cannot do.

So start out today with Faith in your heart

And 'Climb 'Til Your Dream' comes true!

This lovely poem is dedicated to all my readers, and
especially those sharing their birthday with me today.

 May you have a beautiful and blessed birthday!

 May God bless you always with much happiness, health,
peace, and prosperity in the coming year.

Saturday Poetry Corner: The Wonderer

" I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and
for the awful wonder of my birth!  Wonderful are Your works, and
that my inner self knows right well.  My frame was not hidden from
You when I was being formed in secret and intricately and curiously
wrought, as if embroidered with various colors, in the depths of
the earth, a region of darkness and mystery.  Your eyes saw my
unformed substance, and in Your book all the days of my life
were written before ever they took shape, when as yet
there were none of them."
(Psalm 139: 14-16)

Image courtesy/Pinterest

I wish that I could understand

The moving marvel of my Hand;

I watch my fingers turn and twist,

The supple bending of my wrist,

The dainty touch of finger-tip,

The steel intensity of grip;

A tool of exquisite design,

With pride I think: "It's mine! It's mine!"

Then there's the wonder of my Eyes,

Where hills and houses, seas, and skies,

In waves of light converge and pass,

And print themselves as on glass.

Line, form and color live in me;

I am the Beauty that I see;

Ah! I could write a book of size

About the wonder of my Eyes.

What of the wonder of my Heart,

That plays so faithfully its part?

I hear it running sound and sweet;

It does not seem to miss a beat;

Between the cradle and the grave

It never falters, stanch and brave.

Alas! I wish I had the art

To tell the wonder of my Heart.

Then oh! but how can I explain

The wondrous wonder of my Brain?

That marvellous machine that brings

All consciousness of wonderings;

That lets me from myself leap out

And watch my body walk about;

It's hopeless-all my words are vain

To tell the wonder of my Brain.

But do not think, O patient friend,

Who reads these stanzas to the end,

That I myself would glorify...

You're just as wonderful as I,

And all Creation in our view

Is quite as marvellous as you.

Come, let us on the sea-shore stand

And wonder at a grain of sand;

And then into the meadow pass

And marvel at a blade of grass;

Or cast our vision high and far

And thrill with wonder at a star;

A host of stars-night's holy tent

Hugh-glittering with wonderment.

If wonder is in great and small,

Then what of Him who made it all?

In eyes and brain and heart and limb

Let's see the wondrous work of Him.

In house and hill and sward and sea,

In bird and beast and flower and tree,

In everything from sun to sod,

The wonder and the awe of God.

In the above passages from Psalm 139, David likens the womb to
"a place of darkness and mystery"-picture a subterranean tunnel or cavern-
"in the depths of the earth."  "As if embroidered with various colors" is
based on the word, "ragam" which in the Hebrew language refers to
someone skilled in needlework, thus, we have been, "intricately and
curiously wrought" or woven together in our mother's womb.
From "unformed substance" God created all human beings to
bare His likeness and to reflect His glory.

To destroy a child in the womb through the act of abortion is
to murder the very likeness and image of God Himself.

May God bless and protect the American Pro-life Movement.

The Bard Of Baltimore & Boston Cream Pie

 "Always write first things uppermost in the heart."
-Edgar Allan Poe

Image courtesy/Public Domain Pictures

Today is the 214th birthday of one of the most influential
writers in the history of American literature.  Edgar Allan Poe's
tales of mystery and the imagination often reflect the dark side
of human nature, but there is, more often than not, a moral
resolution or consequence in his stories, a fact which was largely
 ignored in the later Hollywood horror movie adaptations of his work.

Edgar Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts where his first known work,
 "Tamerlane and Other Poems" was published in 1827.  Although he did not
 stay in Boston long, there is a square named there in his honor, as well
 as a statue of the writer at the corners of Boylston and Charles
Streets, which portrays him as the enigmatic and dashing figure
 he was, complete with raven in tow, in commemoration of
 his most well-known poem.

A southern gentleman at heart,  Edgar Poe spent some of his
happiest years living in Baltimore, Maryland  in the home of his
 aunt Maria Clemm, and her daughter, Virginia "Sissy" Clemm,
who became Edgar's child bride at the tender age of 13.

Although some historians speculate that Poe married Sissy,
who was also his first cousin, in order to protect and to provide for
her and her widowed mother, and, that their relationship was more
like brother and sister than husband and wife, it seems to me that
their union was much more deeper than a mere
"marriage of convenience".

  Sissy was often the first person that Edgar allowed to read
 his poems and stories.  Although he gained notoriety as
a fierce literary critic while working as an editor in
Philadelphia, he was often equally hard on his own work,
whereas young Sissy could only see her beloved's genius.
It was clear that she loved him, and was in awe of his talent.

 Even at her young age, she seemed to understand the dark moods
 from which he suffered, his deep feelings of rejection and loneliness,
stemming from the childhood trauma of being abandoned,
 along with his mother and siblings, by his father, David Poe.
His mother, Eliza Poe, died soon after, and little Edgar,
  his older brother, William,  and baby sister, Rosalie,
were split up.  At the age of two, he was taken in by a
 Virginia couple named John and Frances Allan, who
provided for him until he had grown into a young man.
After his foster mother died, Edgar had a falling out with
John Allan, who regarded him as ungrateful and
 never seemed to have accepted him.

Sissy, on the other hand, knew the sting of rejection from
her father's family, who had never approved of his marriage
 to her mother.   Despite Edgar's occasional lashing out at his
wife and his aunt, which was often fueled by alcoholic binges,
 Sissy seemed always ready to forgive this troubled man
whom she deeply loved and admired.

And, although rumors swirled of Poe's affairs with other women,
and perhaps because his wife was seriously ill, he pursued the
 attention given him by amorous female admirers of his work,
his heart still belonged to his darling Sissy.

"It was many and many a year ago
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me."

Excerpt from the poem, "Annabel Lee"
Written in memory of Virginia Clemm Poe
by Edgar Allan Poe. This poem was published in
 the New York Tribune just two days after his death.

 Edgar Poe's death was as mysterious as his life.  There has been much
 speculation over the exact cause of the writer's death-among them
that he was victimized by a political gang, as well as the gruesome
account of Poe having contracted rabies-  however, I tend to believe
that the real cause of his demise at the age of 40 was a broken heart.

After witnessing the cruel death of his beloved Sissy, who died at
the age of 25 from tuberculosis, Edgar Poe was inconsolable.
It seemed as if this particular disease had haunted him since
his childhood, as it had also taken the life of his mother,
the actress Eliza Poe, at the age of 24.

Although the records of the cause of his death were lost,
 as he lay dying in a Baltimore hospital his last words were
said to be, "Lord, help my poor soul."

May he rest in eternal peace.

A Call To Prayer/ Fassal: Pakistan

 Father, in the name of Jesus our beloved Savior,
we lift up in prayer before You our persecuted brothers
  and sisters in Pakistan, where Christians are considered
second class citizens and are often treated with contempt
and hostility because of their love for You.

We ask that You fill them with Your strength and the comfort
of Your peace amid the harsh circumstances of their lives.
And, that their faith in You, despite facing horrific persecution,
imprisonment, and even death, will never be shaken, and
 will serve as a testimony for Your glory.

In the holy and precious name of our Lord
 and Savior Jesus Christ, we pray.
Amen.

The Becket Cook Show: The Problem With "Grease"

Former fashion world/Hollywood insider Becket Cook
reviews "Grease" one of the most popular movie
musicals of all time.

 Who didn't want to see this movie, the smash hit of the
1978 summer season, starring former TV "Sweat Hog"
   hunky John Travolta and the beautiful Aussie country
singer Olivia Newton John playing reunited sweethearts,
 dancing and  singing together on the big screen?

While pining for the nostalgia of the "good old days"
I recently watched "Grease" again a few months ago.
My reaction to seeing this movie after so many years,
was similar to that of Becket Cook's, and far different
 from the first time I saw it during that long ago summer,
 as a naive 14 year old kid  getting ready to begin
high school in the fall of that year.
