In honor of the 293rd birthday of America's first President George Washington,
here is a delightful recipe for old-fashioned Cherry Cobbler!

Called "George's Cherry Cobbler" this easy to make dessert recipe
taken from "The Nancy Drew Cookbook: Clues To Good Cooking"
by Carolyn Keene, can actually be attributed to George Fayne,
the best friend of America's favorite titian-haired girl sleuth!
Both attractive brunette tomboy George, along with another best friend,
the plump and pretty blonde Bess Marvin, who is George's cousin,
often assisted Nancy in solving many baffling mysteries!
Even George Washington would be impressed with Nancy's success!
And this delicious cherry cobbler too!
GEORGE'S CHERRY COBBLER
6 T butter
1 cup prepared biscuit mix
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 21-ounce can cherry pie filling
Melt butter in 350 degree oven in a *small baking dish.
In a separate bowl combine remaining ingredients in order.
Don't overmix. Pour mixture into the melted butter without
any more stirring. Bake uncovered 45-50 minutes or until set.
Serves 4-6.
This recipe would go great with some vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
*Although this recipe does not specify the size of a "small baking dish"
I baked my cobbler in a 11 x 8 glass Pyrex baking dish and it turned out great!
