"Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," saith the Lord.
Therefore if thine enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts,
give him drink; for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on
his head. Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good."
(Romans 12:19-21)
The aforementioned Scripture verses above not only speak of the recompense of God,
but serve to instruct believers on how to respond to unjust persecution.
When speaking about their time of incarceration for allegedly violating the FACE Act,
by the Biden Administration, all of the newly pardoned pro-life advocates not only
thanked President Trump for pardoning them, but God for their new found freedom.
Some further praised God for the time spent in prison, which permitted them
to witness the powerful, life-changing message of salvation
through Jesus Christ to their fellow inmates.
According to William Goodman, 55, of the Bronx New York who was sentenced to
27 months in jail for violating the FACE Act, he was able to disciple fellow
inmates by holding Bible studies and hosting prayer groups while
serving time in a Danbury Connecticut prison.
"We saw the Lord moving, guys being delivered from the bondage of addictions
to drugs," says Goodman. There were guys who were coming to pray who were
suffering with various sorts of temptations, and the inmates who came and who
joined us in prayer said they could feel the peace of God."
Despite suffering from severe health issues while incarcerated, fellow pro-life
activist Heather Idoni, 60, of Linden, New Jersey also used the time spent in
not only one, but three different jails for three separate charges,
to witness to many lost and hurting women.
"The very first place I went-Alexandria, Virginia-the first girl I met had gotten
saved the day before through a Bible study, explained Heather. So I could see
that God was laying a foundation. It just started me seeing that God's going
to have work prepared for me ahead of time."
Heather was able to address the spiritual needs of these women
through counseling, but, especially, through the power of prayer.
Ironically, the very same activity which sent her to jail-praying
with women contemplating abortion-has helped to set women
free from prisons of guilt and self-condemnation, which is
so often suffered by those who have had abortions.
"Some of them didn't want to disclose that they felt conflicted about it
and needed forgiveness and love," she said. "But the Lord gave me words
to minister to their hearts, and they became some of my biggest cheerleaders."
"...thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good."
When we put our hope and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, what the enemy
meant for evil, God can turn around and use for good and for His glory!
