Third Sunday Meditation: Light Arises In The Darkness

Timeless wisdom... words of truth and courage,
for these uncertain and troublesome times...

"Light arises in the darkness for the upright, gracious,
compassionate, and just who are in right standing with God.
It is well with the man who deals generously and lends,
who conducts his affairs with justice."
Psalm 112:4-5

Alaskan Sunrise

"Depart from evil and do good; and you will dwell
forever securely. For the Lord delights in justice and forsakes
not His saints; they are preserved forever, but the offspring
of the wicked in time shall be cut off.
Psalm 37:27-28

"Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Better it is to be of a humble spirit with the meek and poor than
to divide the spoil with the proud.  He who deals wisely and
heeds God's word and counsel shall find good, and whoever
leans on, trust in, and is confident in the Lord-
happy, blessed, and fortunate is he."
Proverbs 16:18-20

"Who has ascended into heaven and descended?
Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound
the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends
of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son's name,
if you know?
Proverbs 30:4

"Every word of God is tried and purified;  He is a shield
to those who trust and take refuge in Him."
Proverbs 30:5

"He also opens their ears to instruction and discipline,
and commands that they return from iniquity. If they obey
and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity
and their years in pleasantness and joy.
But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword
of God's destructive judgments, and they shall die in
ignorance of true knowledge."
Job 36:10-12

"He further told them a proverb: Can a blind man guide
and direct a blind man? Will they not both stumble into
a ditch or a hole in the ground?
A pupil is not superior to his teacher, but when he is
completely trained, readjusted, restored, set to right,
and perfected, will be like his teacher."
Luke 6:39-40

"Let each one give as he has made up his own mind
and purposed in his own heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully,
or under compulsion, for God loves and prizes above
all things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do
without, a cheerful giver, whose heart is in his giving.
And God is able to make all grace, every favor and
earthly blessing come to you in abundance, so that you
may always and under all circumstances and whatever
the need be self-sufficient, possessing enough to require
no aid or support, and furnish in abundance for every
good work and charitable donation."
11 Corinthians 9:7-8

"Sow for yourselves according to righteousness,
uprightness and right standing with God; reap according
to mercy and loving-kindness.  Break up your uncultivated
ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, to inquire for and
of Him, and to require His favor, till He comes and
teaches you righteousness and rains His righteous
gift of salvation upon you."
Hosea 10:12

"Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily, from
the soul, as something done for the Lord and not for men,
Knowing with all certainty that it is from the Lord and
not from men that you will receive the inheritance
which is your real reward.  The One Whom you
are actually serving is the Lord Christ, the Messiah."
Colossians 3:23-24

"Be earnest and unwearied and steadfast in your
prayer life, and being both alert and intent in your
praying with thanksgiving.
Behave yourselves wisely, living prudently and
with discretion in your relations with those of the outside
world, the non-Christians, making the very most of the
time and seizing the opportunity.
Let your speech at all times be gracious, pleasant and
winsome, seasoned as it were with salt, so that you may
never be at a loss to know how you ought to answer
anyone who puts a question to you."
Colossians 4:2,5,6

"Be happy in your faith and rejoice and be glad-hearted
continually; Be unceasing in prayer; Thank God in everything,
no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and
give thanks, for this is the will of God for you who are
in Christ Jesus, the Revealer and Mediator of that will.

Do not quench or suppress the Holy Spirit;
Do not spurn the gifts and utterances of the prophets,
do not depreciate prophetic revelations nor despise
inspired instruction or exhortation or warning.
But test and prove all things until you can recognize
what is good; to that hold fast.

Abstain from evil, shrink from it and keep aloof
from it in whatever form or whatever kind it may be.
And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you
from profane things, make you pure and wholly
consecrated to God; and may your spirit and soul
and body be preserved and sound and complete
and found blameless at the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ the Messiah.

Faithful is He Who is calling you to Himself
and utterly trustworthy, and He will also fulfill His
call by hallowing and keeping you."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-24

"Look well to yourself and to your own personality
and to your teaching; persevere in these things, hold
to them, for by so doing you will save both
yourself and those who hear you."
1 Timothy 4:16

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity
or cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear,
but He has given us a spirit of power and love and of
calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control."
11 Timothy 1:7

"Guard and keep with the greatest care the precious
and excellently adapted Truth which has been entrusted
to you by the help of the Holy Spirit Who makes
His home in us."
11 Timothy 1:14

"Every Scripture is God-breathed, given by His instruction
and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin,
for correction of error and discipline in obedience, and for
training in righteousness, in holy living, in conformity to
God's will in thought, purpose, and action."

"So that the man or woman of God may be complete
and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped
for every good work."
11 Timothy 16-17

"So if we say we are partakers together and enjoy
fellowship with Him when we live and move and are
walking about in darkness, we are both speaking falsely
and do not live and practice the Truth which
the Gospel presents."

"But if we really are living and walking in the Light,
as He is in the Light, we have true, unbroken fellowship
with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son
cleanses us from all sin in all its forms and manifestations."
1 John 1:6-7
