On My Mind: Purim And The Politics Of Passion

"And Moses built an altar and called the name of it,
The Lord is my Banner  ("Jehovah-Nissi")
And he said, "Because theirs is a hand against the
throne of the Lord, the Lord will have war with
Amalek from generation to generation."
Exodus 17:15-16

In recent days,we have all been witnessed to the politics of unbridled passion.

Since the November election, the Republican Party, which had previously
controlled both the House and the Senate,  lost a considerable number
of incumbent seats in the Congress to relatively unknown newcomers,
like Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez  (D-NY), and Congresswoman
Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).  Both women have made considerable waves since
winning their seats, Ocasio-Cortez with her "New Green Deal" initiative,
and Tlaib with her dirty mouth, when she loudly declared (about President Trump,)
"We're gonna impeach the Mother-f***er!" during a victory speech.

Rashida Tlaib is the first Palestinian-American member of the House.
She is also Muslim.  During a banquet for CAIR, or the Council on
American-Islamic Relations, Tlaib, who was the keynote speaker,
declared, "We always said the Muslims are coming! I think were here!"
She, along with newly-elected, Somali-born Congresswoman Ilan Omar (D-MN)
have been quite busy fueling the flames of anti-Semitism within the halls of Congress.

Furthermore, Tlaib's glib declaration,
"We always said the Muslims are coming! I think they're here!"
seems to be a confirmation that America has finally
joined the ranks of England and the rest of Europe,
in succumbing to acquiescence regarding Islam.

In only 18 years since the horror of September 11th,
determine jihadists are taking full advantage of the liberal-
promoted culture of 'inclusiveness and diversity' which has come
to define the post-Christian society of the United States of America in 2019.

"Inclusiveness" and "Diversity" = "Divide" and "Conquer"
in the minds and hearts of these true and passionate sons and daughters
of Allah, the driving force behind their blood-thirsty, murderous
religious mandate for centuries, especially in regards
to the subjugation of  western civilization.

In the story of Esther and Purim,  the ambitious and wicked Haman,
a descendant of the Amalekites, was also a man of intense passion.
Haman believed in his own superiority over other people
and demanded that as an important figure in the court of
King Ahasuerus of Persia, the other subjects of the court
should bow to him with respect as he passed by them.

One of these people was Mordecai, a righteous Jew and the cousin
of Queen Esther who served as an attendant at the court.
He absolutely refused to bow down to the self-important Haman.
Aside from probably seeing his superior as a self-important and ingratiating
jackass, Mordecai knew he would never bow down in subservience to any man
before the holy and righteous God of Israel.

Unfortunately, Haman used Mordecai's reluctance to try and
destroy both him and the rest of the Jewish people throughout the
empire by informing King Ahasuerus that "a certain people"
were causing trouble throughout the land and following after
their own set of rules in defiance to the king's laws.

Because King Ahasuerus did not have all the details of the
situation, he allowed for a decree to be written and proclaimed
throughout all the land that at a certain time and date, this
so-called, "certain people" namely the Jews, would be destroyed.
It took the courage and faith of the beautiful Esther, God's chosen
vessel for that moment in time, to save her people from Haman's
wicked scheme to annihilate them.

Fast forward to America today and Representative Omar's claims
that, "Israel has hypnotized the world" while alluding that American politicians
who support the nation of Israel do so for financial reasons.  She further
supports, along with Tlaib, the notorious BDS (Boycott, Sanctions, and
Divestment) Movement against goods and services from Israel, and
criticized the pro-Israel lobby,  AIPAC, claiming, the group
is "buying off" American politicians.

According to a recent article in this month's Levitt Letter, a
publication of Zola Levitt Ministries, the name of Haman
stands for evil, hatred, and rebellion against the God of Israel.
While the allegations made by Ilan Omar might sound like
familiar anti-Semitic rhetoric, her words, and the apparent motivation
behind them, seems to be a latent, yet very passionate hatred for Jewish people-
thus echoing the sentiments of Haman, and all the enemies of God
over the many centuries, who have unfairly targeted
His chosen nation  and people for persecution.

On a lighter note, quoting Mark Stover from Jews For Jesus ministries:

"This Purim, as we blot out the name of Haman, and by extension Amalek and
Agag and their ilk, we might also consider the claims of Yeshua,
whose name actually means, "Salvation".
He offers life and peace to all-Jews and Gentiles-who trust
in His name.  And all who follow Yeshua, according to the
New Covenant, will have their own names written in
the Book of Life, where they can never be blotted out.
Cursed be Haman and his kind! Blessed be
Mordecai and Esther and all those who are
faithful to the God of Israel!"

"May you be like Ruth and like Esther,
May you be deserving of praise...
Strengthen them, O Lord,
And keep them from the strangers' ways..."
