Third Sunday Meditation: As Thou Hast Been, Thou Forever Will Be

"O Lord God of hosts, who is a mighty one
like unto You, O Lord?  And Your faithfulness is
round about You, and essential part of You at all times."
Psalm 89:8

According to the writer of this beloved hymn,  Thomas O. Chisholm
claims that his sole motivation for the writing it was simply
his own walk of faith and the truth found in God's Word.

Meanwhile, musical composer, William M. Runyan, once
said, "This particular poem held such an appeal that I prayed
earnestly that my tune might carry its message in a worthy way,
and the subsequent history of its use indicates that God answered prayer."

 "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" is said to be the unofficial
school hymn of the famous Moody Bible Institute of Chicago,
with which Mr. Runyan was associated for some years.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

(Refrain)

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
