Third Sunday Meditation: First Lander's Legacy

Arise from the dust of obscurity
and throw off the contempt
that has sought to divide and conquer us!
Come together, my brothers and sisters in Messiah,
 for our time has come!

In April of 1607, a group of weary,
storm-tossed Christian refugees
landed on the shores of what
 is today Cape Henry, Virginia
after many weeks of crossing
the perilous waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
 Upon reaching dry land again,
these travelers, although beset with exhaustion
 and sickness and near starvation,
 dropped to their knees
and offered thanks to Almighty God
for leading them safely to their new home.

Later, they erected a seven foot wooden cross
and dedicated the land beneath their
humbled knees to the Lord Jesus Christ.
This simple yet powerful act of thanksgiving
sealed the covenant  made between God
and those history calls, "The First Landers"
who would later found Jamestown Colony.
The nation that would one day become America was,
 like the nation of Israel,
sealed in a covenant with Almighty God.

This was "The First Landers" legacy
handed down to us.
America was and is a nation
 which was first and foremost
dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ.
And it is for this single reason,
that in the last 241 years,
 the United States of America
has flourished unlike any other nation
on the face of the earth.

I realized this morning
that the time for passive resistance is over.
The shocking and senseless evil
we are witnessing almost daily
is far more than human in nature.
We are currently in a lock down
against the rioting forces of spiritual wickedness
in the unseen, or supernatural sphere.

Violence in the streets of Charlottesville, Virginia

In the natural, we find members
of radical groups on both sides
 of the political spectrum
and the violence they are unleashing
across America both physically and morally repugnant.
It is only through the power of the Holy Spirit
 that one can clearly see
  these people as the
 most grievously wounded of all.
And because their wounds
are gaping wide like an unhinged door,
 the enemy of their souls
has been given an open invitation
to walk right in and make himself at home.

I truly believe that
the return of the Lord is imminent.
 Although none of us know
the day or the hour of His return,
it is time for His followers to rise up
in the authority of the Holy Spirit,
which was His coronation gift to us,
and not only renew the conditions
of the covenant made with God
long ago by our forefathers and mothers
at Cape Henry, and later at Plymouth,
but, to reach out with boldness
and in love to reclaim the legions
of walking wounded souls caught up
in the misery and chaos ensuing
 across America today.

Intercessory prayer is
one of the most powerful weapons
 believers have in counteracting
the destructive influence
 of the spiritual wickedness.
And whereas the church truly is the people,
 we need to seriously disregard
the divisions of doctrine and denomination
 which have kept us bound
 and separated from each other
and extend olive branches to all our brethren,
 without hesitation or reservation.
 We need to come together
 and pray for genuine restoration,
 healing, and  deliverance, but,
most important of all, the revival
 of the true, Christ-centered,
Holy Spirit-led faith
of our ancestors,
in order that we may become
one solid, impenetrable body in Messiah,
 saving lost and hurting souls,
 and restoring God's peace
and genuine stability from sea to shining sea.

It is for such a time as this that we have been called.
