Second Sunday Meditation: Her Children Rise Up And Call Her Blessed

"Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord,
the only Lord.  And you shall love the Lord your God
with all your mind and heart and with your entire being
and with all your might. And these words which I am
commanding you this day shall be first in your own minds
and hearts; then, You shall whet and sharpen them as to
make them penetrate, and teach and impress them
diligently upon the minds and hearts of your children,
and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and
when you walk by the way, and when you lie down
and when you rise up."
Deuteronomy 6:4-7

"The greatest gift a mother can give her children is her
example of love and obedience to God. Our sons and daughters
need to see godly precepts lived out each day in our words and
choices, since we are their first spiritual teachers and advisers."
-Dr. Charles Stanley

The white carnation has long been a symbol of
truth, of purity, and of the deep, abiding love of motherhood.

"The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God
is the love of a mother."
-St. Therese of Lisieux

A MOTHER'S LOVE

A mother's love is something

that no one can explain,

It is made of deep devotion

and of sacrifice and pain...

It is endless and unselfish

and enduring come what may

For nothing can destroy it

or take that love away...

It is patient and forgiving

when all others are forsaking,

And it never fails or falters

even though the heart is breaking...

It believes beyond believing

when the world around condemns,

And it glows with all the beauty

of the rarest, brightest gems....

It is far beyond defining,

It defies all explanation,

And it still remains a secret

like the mysteries of creation...

A many splendoured miracle

man cannot understand

And another wondrous evidence

of God's tender guiding hand.
