Happy Birthday President George Washington: Our First Christian President

"Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it;
except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain."
(Psalm 127:1)

"Oh eternal and everlasting God, direct my thoughts, words, and works.
Wash away my sins in the immaculate blood of the Lamb and purge my
heart by Thy Holy Spirit.  Daily frame me more and more in the likeness
of Thy Son Jesus Christ, that living in Thy fear, and dying in Thy favor,
I may, in Thy appointed time obtain the resurrection of the justified
unto eternal life.  Bless O Lord, the whole race of mankind,
 and let the world be filled with the knowledge of
Thee and Thy Son Jesus Christ."

First President of the United States of America

*"And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you
 to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it;
for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace."
(Jeremiah 29:7)

 President George Washington drew inspiration from the prophet
Jeremiah when in 1789, he added the words, "So help me God"
to the presidential oath of office prescribed by Article II
of the United States Constitution.

Beloved brother in the Lord David Barton, one of America's foremost
authorities on the Judeo-Christian heritage of our nation, sets the
record straight about President George Washington's faith.

* The above passage from the Book of Jeremiah was a
message to the Jews of the first captivity, when Israel was
carried away by the forces of Babylon.
