March Lions and Lambs

"If March comes in like a lion, we say,
it will go out like a lamb; if it comes in
like a lamb, it will go out like a lion.
The Old Farmers Almanac
(1998)

"The March wind roars
Like a lion in the sky,
And makes us shiver
As he passes by.
When winds are soft,
And the days are warm and clear,
Just like a gentle lamb,
Then spring is here."
Author Unknown

“Then you should say what you mean,' the March Hare went on.
`I do,' Alice hastily replied; At least I mean what I say...
that's the same thing, you know.'”
-  Lewis Carroll

"Daffodils,
That come before the swallow dares, and take
The winds of March with beauty."
 William Shakespeare

The Heralds of Spring

Hmmm...

March is definitely a fickle month.
Last week, we had tempts in the upper 60's.

This week, we are facing what the
weather people are calling,
"a classic nor'easter".

Lots of snow predicted.

Lots and lots of snow.

Try 1-2 feet of snow!

Today it is very cold outside.
The wind is blowing from the northwest
and occasionally rattles the roof
above my head.

Will we get this big snowstorm next Tuesday?

I guess we will have to wait and see.

A snowstorm when its almost spring?

May be I will get to build a snow man and his family yet!

Storm Watch Update:
Well, we weathered the blast, folks!
"Superstorm Stella" passed us by to the west and dumped
her big snowfall totals in the Pocono Mountains and points northward!
Here in southern New Jersey we had a sleet/snow mixture which
has left everything coated with ice!  The only consolation is,
unlike a heavy snowfall, the ice will not harm the spring flowers
coming up or the soon to be blossoming peach and apple trees.
