First Sunday Meditation: Seek First His Kingdom

"Look at the proud; his soul is not straight or right
within him, but the rigidly just and the uncompromisingly
righteous man shall live by his faith and in his faithfulness."
Habakkuk 2:4

Instructions For The Disciples

"Then Yeshua said to His disciples,
"So I say to you, do not worry about life,
what you will eat; nor about the body, what
you shall wear. For life is more than food and
the body more than clothing.

Consider the ravens. They do not sow
or reap, they have no storerooms or barn,
yet, God feed them. How much more valuable
you are than birds!

"All things wise and wonderful..."
Cecil Frances Alexander
Beautiful, bright-eyed ravens are one of
God's most intelligent creatures.

And which of you by worrying can add
a single hour to his life? So if you cannot do
even something very little, why do you worry
about other things?

Consider the lilies, how they grow. They neither toil
or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory
was clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass
in the field-which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow-
how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?

So do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink,
and do not keep worrying. For all the nations of the world strive
after these things. Instead, seek His kingdom, and these things shall
be added to you. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father chose
to give to you the kingdom."

Late winter Anemone, the "lilies of the field"
bloom in the Ruhama Forest in Israel

But not alone the fairest flowers:
The mere grass
Along the roadside where we pass,
Lichen and moss and sturdy weed,
Tell of His love who sends the dew,
The rain and sunshine too,
To nourish one small seed.
