Fifth Sunday Meditation: Standing On The Promises

" For truly I say to you,
if you have faith as of a mustard seed,
you will say to this mountain,
"Move from here to there" and it will move.
And nothing will be impossible for you."
Matthew 17:20

Islam is advancing on the West at an alarming rate because most of the nations
in Europe today have forsaken the true for the false.  They have done away with following
after the teachings of Christ-centered, Holy Spirit-led faith in exchange for the
religion of science and secular humanism.  They have forsaken God's
superior wisdom for the self-centered machinations of fallen mankind.

Throughout the Old Testament, Israel's defiance in turning away from the
One True God to follow after the customs and to worship the deities of the heathen
cultures that surrounded them always ended up with grievous consequences.

America was founded-not by our Founding Fathers, although they did contribute
to the forming of our nation's Constitution and subsequent laws-but by a group of
bone-weary, soul-scorched pilgrims who faced weeks of hunger and sickness and
other deprivations crossing the stormy Atlantic in wooden ships, led by a vision
of God through the Holy Spirit to find a new home across the sea.

In April, 1607 these weary travelers reached dry land again in what would one
day be Cape Henry Virginia.  The first act they committed as they stepped on dry
surface again was to get down on their knees and give thanks and praise to God
for their safe landing. They later constructed a seven foot tall wooden cross
and  dedicated their new homeland to the Lord Jesus Christ.

These first landers were followed over the years by many others who were also
seeking freedom. Some of these were men with radical political ideas, but,
I believe the majority of them shared  the vision of John Winthrop,
who saw America as a great city shining on a hill, a beacon of freedom
for all, in the name of Jesus Christ.

This is, I believe, the true spirit of America.

Although our nation today is a far cry from what the original
settlers envisioned, I believe that many people, who know our true history
and realize how blessed we are, are making a difference.
They may not make the evening news, but they are reaching out
and working in their communities and states to make America great again,
not only economically, but spiritually.

They may be strangers to each other, but all are driven by one
surefire  purpose in their minds and in their hearts.
They have chosen to stand on the promises of God.

These same people were storming the gates of heaven on election night
in 2016, asking God for His mercy and deliverance on this nation, and
He answered because it was only through His power, I believe, that
Donald Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States that night.

Jesus Himself told us that if we have faith the size of a mustard seed that
nothing will be impossible for those who put their faith in Him, and I believe this
too, especially in regards to exposing the diabolical schemes of the political Left
in America, who would like nothing more than to see our president
resign in disgrace, as well as those enemies of freedom who see us as a
gullible and weak society which they want to suppress and conquer
under the draconian auspices of Sharia (Islamic) Law.

Let Adonai rise!  Let His enemies be scattered!
May He have continual mercy and grace on America!

The Good Shepherd

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,

Through eternal ages let His praises ring,

Glory to the highest, I will shout and sing,

Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,

When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,

By the living Word of God I shall prevail,

Standing on the promise of God.

Standing on the promises I now can see

Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;

Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,

Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,

Bound to Him eternally by love's strong cord,

Overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,

Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,

Listening every moment to the Spirit's call

Resting  in my Savior as my all in all,

Standing on the promises of God.
