August Poetry Corner

"This is the day which the Lord has
brought about; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalm 118:24

Wild Purple Heather

Away o'er the brow of the hill that is
purple with heather:

Where the pasturing bees hum alone
thro' the long Summer day,

Where the lichen-clad boulders sleep
on thro' centuries' weather

And the shepherding winds pipe the
tenderest midsummer lay

As they call up the clouds from
magnificent dreaming together,

There floats down the valley a voice
that is fresh as the May.
