Nights In White Satin 1967-2017

One of the most beautiful and haunting
songs to ever grace the air waves....
celebrates it's 50th anniversary this year!

Nights In White Satin
(Justin Haywood)
Days Of Future Passed
The Moody Blues
1967

"Breathe deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day's useless energy spent.

Impassioned lovers wrestle as one,

Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son,
Senior citizens wish they were young.

Cold-hearted orb that rules the night,

Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white,
But we decide which is right.
And which is an illusion?"
Graeme Edge

I have always believed the meaning

of this song has to do with matters of the heart.
And, that what we think and feel is often merely
an illusion, created in our own minds as a
defense against hurt, especially when faced with the
painful reality of rejection and abandonment
by someone we thought once loved us.

Dante and Beatrice
Salvatore Postiglione
(1906)
