Song At Evening

Day is done; shadows darken;
Hill and vale hush and hearken.
'Neath the sky's starry eyes
Flowers nod and dream,
While the world lies pearled
In the moon's soft beams.
Faint and far, bells are chiming,
All their tones sweetly rhyming.
God it's guide, earth shall glide
Through the tranquil night
To a morn, newborn,
In a holy light.
