Rest In Peace

I recently, meaning just yesterday afternoon,

took time to sit down and watch the movie,

"The Buddy Holly Story".

I had not seen this movie in quite a while and so

I was shocked to find out that Buddy was just

shy of his 23rd birthday when he and three

others perished in a plane crash on

February 3, 1959.

An amazingly talented young man

rising to meteoric stardom overnight,

suddenly and tragically gone far too soon.

Although Buddy Holly is one of
the legends of the early days of
American rock 'n' roll,
and his unique style of music 
has influenced the careers
of many famous musicians over the years,

his untimely death reminds me that

life is both precious and uncertain.

And that none of us are guaranteed tomorrow.

Actor Gary Busey, who did his own singing and playing of instruments,
 was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in
"The Buddy Holly Story"
(1978)

Maria Elena Santiago Holly

 that Buddy wrote the song,
"True Love Ways" 

just four months before his death.

It is my favorite Buddy Holly song.
